Yeah, I'm definitely digging the old school, more grounded vibe of this show. The uncle is 100% suspicious to me... I wonder how much he really knows. I look forward to seeing the mystery unfold!

Hanto didn't get his ass kicked as much as G3 does. And speaking of Gavv, Shouichi also reminds me of Shouma Stomach a bit, in that he's your innocent "good boy" type of protagonist, almost an alien.

I recall Hanto getting ragdolled a ton early on, iirc. I can see the Shouma vibes with Shouichi.

I agree with you in terms of Hikawa, but i also see it as a case of Hikiwa's Kamen Rider crew (the SAUL police squad) being much more developed than Shouichi's Rider crew (the family he lives with). That girl Ozawa from Hikiwa's crew is also cool as Hikiwa's woman in the chair.

These scientists are always the worst enemy. These guys messing with DNA sequences. Reminds me of the Pluribus show last year, and what happened when those scientists started translating alien DNA sequences.

Agito hit that Ninja Turtle with the "Cool guys don't look at explosions" Rider Kick. Agito turning his back to that turtle when he thought he was fine was badass and diabolical.

I'm actually kinda disappointed that I skipped Agito before because this series has been great so far. While it might be slower for you, it's much faster for me compared to Kuuga and most Showa series. I skipped Agito in favor of Ryuki (which is also most likely a Rider you'll like.). Again, what I like here is the mystery aspect. Seiji Takaiwa also continues to kill it as the main Rider's suit actor (you saw him in Build and W already. He was also most Red Power Rangers between Mighty Morphin and Time Force. He was actually Tommy's Green suit in Mighty Morphin)

Episode 4 has the last mentions of the unidentified lifeforms/kuuga references before the show committed to being a fully standalone story.

The opening only changes once. And that's actually unusual. The older show openings often never change at all.
