Hi everyone!

Are you ready to put down the brushes and get a little "loose and easy"? This week, we are diving back into Palette Knife Painting, but with a twist. I’ve had so many questions about whether the brand of paint really makes a difference when using a knife, so we’re putting it to the test.

In this demo, I’m using some budget-friendly "cheap" paints to see if we can still achieve that beautiful, atmospheric Maine look without the professional price tag.

Whether you have the fanciest tubes in the world or a starter set you found in the back of a drawer, grab your palette knife and let’s play!

Supplies used in this demo:

Palette Knife (Small/Medium offset)

Watercolor Paper (Cold Press)

Budget Watercolor Set (Raw Umber & Cobalt Violet focuses)

A splash of courage to get messy!

I can't wait to see your versions of this landscape in the community gallery. Tag me or share your "cheap paint" results—did they surprise you?

Happy Painting! Kellie
