Alright folks! This is why I haven't put up the monthly poll yet. This was close to the state I wanted it to be in for a first release, and there's at least a chance (depending on if you guys, gals and others like it) that it may replace Eridium Dreams. As you might guess from that, it's a Mass Effect fic like Eridium Dreams is. Hence putting off the poll until I could put this out and see if it might be well liked. Eridium Dreams had done poorly, for a super long time in the polls, and I have to admit I've lost a lot of my muse for it since it's been so long since I started it.

Some details before you dive into the first release of this work:

1) Something that's always frustrated me is how few Mass Effect fics out there do much with anyone but the humans. Yeah, I get it, 'Humanity Fuck Yeah' is fun. But, honestly? Where are all the fics with Alien protagonists? The Asari in particular are a wealth of interesting possibilities to play with. So, I wrote an Asari protagonist...with an OC female human that got inserted. Part of the reasons for that is that I've also been wanting to play with a system lightly inspired by a couple of fics on Spacebattles. Starflung Wanderer being the better of the two, though not the one that originated the system. The system I'm using is not a direct copy, since I also mixed it with the idea of an Omniversal Market that you see in some COYAs. But there are similarities.

2) This was first conceived and written when I was in a mood, struggling to write the Shiki arc of Halfway Broken. The result of me needing to vent a bit is that this fic has a light about of Crack! to it. It's Crack Treated Seriously, not pure Crack!, but its still present. This also, as it happens, caused the story to escalate into sexy territory much faster than normal for my works. That's entirely because of the professions I gave the two characters that merge at the start of the story, entirely for my own amusement. That said, while the fic is likely to have more lemons that average, it still Plot First, Porn a distant second at most. Unlike Mass Effect: Final Error, which is my only real smut fic.

EDIT (10/11 - 8:12pm)

3) I KNEW I was forgetting something! One feature of this fic I meant to bring up is that, if it goes forward, I'm intending to let people vote on who she summons each time she uses the 'Help' section of the story for companions!

End Edit

Hmmm, it feels like there's more I should be remembering, but oh well. Oh! A basic description of the fic, huh?

Description: Come watch what happens when a Hentai Artist and game designer from a regular Earth, ends up merging with an Asari Stripper and getting a System to help save the galaxy! Watch out, Citadel Space, you're in for a wild ride...

Have a fun read, folks!

I’m pretty sure The MIB Neuralyser only works on humans, I can’t remember it ever being used on a Xeno

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I don't remember if it was ever used on one, but I consider it EXTREMLY likely that it should work. In that setting, pretty much zero of the humans' tech actually originated from humanity. Meaning they acquired the Neuralyser from an alien species in the first place. Ergo, it was most likely calibrated for a large range (or each one might have needed to be calibrated to a specific species, I suppose. In which case Rylia would need multiples, I guess. Or a way to reset it).

NotableRonin

I’m definitely looking forward to whenever you release the next chapter for this :)

Dominique Brassel

Mh this is good....... I must say it is more interesting than eridium dreams even if I actually like that one....and for me personally I find this one more interesting than izuku in Star wars(sadly I will likely be a minority with this) So our sexy mc should invest into fornax it should be growing pretty fast so she should go in early.... Also for some interesting tech she could sell and I don't know how she(you) didn't even mention it is VR or AR hardware and games ..... Thought acceleration in VR should be relatively common (so that helps with learning as well and should free up time) the slariens would certainly like it ..... Also VR sex games all the VR sex games ....she is a game dev and hentei artist how did she not think of this ...... Or you know an actual lewd VR chat via extranet.... It shouldn't even be that expensive if at all as rudemantary neural interfaces exits(those prothean shard thinks from me 3 and the beacons)also Indoctrination tech would be useful for that as well...... Okey a did briefly consider shoving actual Indoctrination tech into VR hardware and indoctrinate "everyone" before the reapers can but that would be a bit far I think..... Right the sex toys...tentacle sex toys... She should use the tentacle seat one as her standard streaming chair(or make a special custom one) ....she somehow became zone-tan Last she should definitely train with and enhance her biotics as well as her combat abilities even if she has no real interest and intention to actually fight on the frontline she should be able to defend herself from asari commandos/huntresses, shadowbroker agents, stg ,specters and other forces trying to black back her the earlier she starts training the better (I admit I dislike it when the mc as the option to get "strong" but remains "weak") Also shadowbroker reminds me do you plan to depose him it is a bit of a cliche but it is one for good practical reasons

Mr Mouse

I know you probably already have someone in mind, and the odds are low, but the first thought I had for her Personnal Assistant/Confidante/RD Helper was Sage from Marvel; A genius geneticist, hacker, and engineer who specialises in understanding and iterating technology. She's also a master combatant, a skilled pilot, and has experience shrugging off nanite control, who functioned as a telepathic spy on the hellfire club for years under the cover of being the PA of the Black King. Again, I imagine you already have someone, but it just slotted into my head with too satisfying a click not to share. Really the whole update can be summed up as satisfying, satisfying premise, satisfying character, satisfying length, just a great start all round, can't wait for more.

BookDragonling

I hope people vote for this. Glad she bought the 'rapid learning' tech.

Ototsu_Yume

Nice, the only Asari protag fic I've read had mc reincarnate as the daughter of Aria and the Asari councillor which was a pretty fun read for the most part. Most people seem to go either the mixed world human route which just becomes a convoluted mess by virtue of mashing up worlds that don't work well together or a Krogan that acts like a human due to reincarnation shenanigans. The only 'good' ME fics that seem to run with a human tends to be Celestial Forge style ones or Inspired Inventor ones, but then they tend to be before the first invasion making it practically impossible to tell that they are in the ME universe besides some ruins in space.

Mr Fox

I'm fairly sure the real answer is that the MIB writers didn't think about it that hard and you can go with whatever interpretation you want

Memory Dump

So, I'm guessing her Streams are kind of like a mix between Project Melody and Uwo's Lab.

Sidraef

I am sad to see Eridium Dreams on the chopping block. I read three of your stories and it is the one outside my normal readership. I am trying to give this one a fair shake but I struggle with “gamer system” stories. So much of the story is explaining the system or having it fix everything one way or another. The verse you were creating in Eridium Dreams was interesting. I admit I usually held my vote on it till I knew it had a decent chance of winning and I hope at some point you can come back to it Now back to working my way through the chapter.

Maglad

I’d prefer to see 2B and A2 in mass effect, fighting aliens on behalf of humanity. After all, they really wouldn’t have any issue with it and it would fulfill them completely.

Orchamus

Deeply happy to see another Asari SI, so rare to find!! Which is super surprising! 🤯 And one with such a different approach to handling things is pretty cool ngl. Definitely has my vote over eridium

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Yep, I've only seen two or three ever, which is just weird to me. They seem like a race that should have a lot of people building them out, if for no other reason than smut writers really. Glad you like it :-)

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I actually did see one attempt at a Nier x ME crossover once, but it didn't get far enough. I probably wouldn't do it at the moment simply because I'm already using 2B in two different stories. Writing the same character across multiple stories makes it harder to keep them separate in my head.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I don't like abandoning stories. Eridium Dreams would actually be the first fanfiction story ever in that regard. But I'm struggling to write it at this point even when it wins, simply because I barely remember where I was originally going with it.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I honestly don't know, as I follow exactly zero streamers and barely tolerate them when friends share 'super good ones.' Usually just long enough to make generic comments. The idea just doesn't appeal to me. Though it's so ubiquitous in culture now that I have a general idea of how they operate by context and the few I've consumed to support people (usually while being bored to tears by it).

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Yep, Pirate Princess I think? Or something like that. That's one of the ONLY Asari fics I've ever found that was decent length, and it updates extremely rarely. Disappointing, as it's actually pretty good.

Sidraef

Totally understand I just wanted to share my love for the story you created. Even if it is a struggle to keep it going.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Drat! I KNEW I was forgetting something in the points to bring up! It was something I meant to mention for this fic, that I intend to run polls for anyone she summons! Going to go edit that in now T-T...

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I'm glad you like it :-). I loved it when I started writing it, it's just how long it's been and how few updates it's had. I have to reread the whole thing every time I update it and I'm pretty sure I've shifted directions a couple of times in the process. Just because I couldn't remember my exact original outline.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

She's really only brought a single type of thing to market so far. So it's less that she hasn't thought of such things, and more that she's drowning in success just from her first step with a product. Through, VR/AR also doesn't show up anywhere in Mass Effect, being sort of conspicuous by its absence, honestly. I have a hard time believing it wouldn't already exist though, for humanity at least, given how hard and how many times people tried to make it a thing before it finally stuck...a bit. As for training. She will likely do SOME to make sure she can defende herself. Hence her first purchases being a barrier and pistol. But I specifically made this protagonist as a non-combatant, giving her a non-combat system. Frankly, in a lot of settings, it's a HUGE stretch for a single combatant to make the sort of difference their series makes them out to have. Master Chief, Shepard, Samus, etc. In some settings like Star Wars they at least TRY to excuse it via prophecy or similar. In many cases though, it's rather forced for the narrative of a shooter type character somehow making a huge scale difference in a war that should be MOSTLY fought in space. This story is me playing with that a little, obliquely pointing out that the real place to make a large scale change/difference is in logistics, politics, or R&D. She might try for the Broker eventually, if she thinks she can confirm where he is. But she's already realized her 'foreknowledge' is potentially very faulty, so she isn't going to act on a lot of it without confirmation via some other means.

Ben

This is a really unique take on an uplift story where the focus isn't on the army and nation building but on the tech and logistics. Real interested to see where you take this one.

Memory Dump

Both are V-tubers, melody was the first stripper vtuber, had a full 3D model with full body tracking and would test out new sex toys on Chaturbate and even made her own brand, eventually she started doing streams on Twitch. The other one is a mad scientist who makes absolutely unhinged contraptions such as cooking a steak using cigarette smoke from 50 cigarette packs, Or headphones for ball sacks so that you can listen to music through your testicles.

Matthew Robar

I feel like the neuralyser is one of the few earth developed techs in the series, during the whole time travel thing they showcase a prototype. At the very least it means earth has to produce it on their own and the ‘good enough’ effect of engineering means they wouldnt push it to develop Omni compatibility with other aliens it never really needs to be used against And even if it was developed by an alien, they only needed something to help conceal the secret from other earthlings If it was an already mature product they received wholesale from aliens though, why on earth would they be given such a powerful weapon? The ability to basically mind control other species? I’m also pretty sure that it’s mentioned that it’s hyper dependant on the human ability to rationalise weirdness away

Mr Mouse

Well, I can't wait for more, and I hope Sage makes it onto the polls

Delphinous

i hope people enjoy this, but this one specifically just isn't for me, which is fine. i'm enjoying some of your other stories just fine, but for whatever reason this one just doesn't work for me

WhatAFungi

Yeah, I’m already a bigger fan of this than the other Mass Effect story. I’m still a way bigger fan of your other stuff, but I’ll be keeping up with this one at least. I didn’t keep up with the other one. All great empires were built on the backs of sex toys. Great story and I hope to see more.

Arya13579

Try Cerulean Stars: An Asari Security Officer in Commander Sisko's Court, it's super good.

Arya13579

It's an Asari SI in Star Trek, which I'm not super familiar with, but this story is worth it.

TheZombieDoc

So, somewhat unrelated, but I stumbled on Ben 10 again and I'm imagining Galvan tech in this setting and holy hell.

TheZombieDoc

Hell, plummer tech would probably be a nice bridge gap to higher teir stuff.

Arya13579

Try Cerulean Stars: An Asari Security Officer in Commander Sisko's Court, it's super good.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

*shrug* That's fair. I write such a variety of types and settings that it's virtually guaranteed there is at least one story each reader doesn't like.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

There's a little too much truth to Empires being built on sex toys ;-). Or, at least, on the sex industry in general. They, ironically, have virtually always been the ones pushing media technology forward...and I distinctly remember reading about the Romans having wooden dildos. Clearly, it's why they were so successful...

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Galvan tech would probably be hideously expensive because of how wide the gap would be between it and the Mass Effect tech base. Plummer tech would be a lot more reasonable, though...

Ototsu_Yume

Will give it a shot, thanks. :)

TheZombieDoc

The Mass Effect universe has been spared from their froggy overlords through merrit of "Get Good"

Orchamus

I've seen it but been holding off since I'm barely able to remember anything for Star Trek that wasn't the Kirk stuff my stepfather enjoyed

Dominique Brassel

I think the overlord dlc in me2 is one of the only time (other than prothean beacons) where tech of the VR variety is hinted at or perhaps human grey box tech .... as for AR the old mass effect 1 dlc pinnacle station(that is not included in legendary edition due to file corruption) has some kind of AR/VR simulation for combat training I think .... As for an in-game/in-world reason/excuse the reapers could have discouraged the technology as it would likely ease human ai interaction and or VR tech is too closely tied to ai research..... or of course it exists but isn't mentioned because for real world reason such as game scope or mudding up the game theme Mh you know I actually like the idea that the real fight is won by R&D and logistics and that you need to be some kind of fleet admiral or such to make a big impact in the fight...... I did mention who she should be able to defend herself against (which were small operations teams or highly trained agents) and it is defend not curbstomp and actually fighting reapers is a dumb idea ...... Also considering what shepherd actually did in me3 and the whole war readiness mechanic shepherd was more of a diplomat that also did precision strikes than an actual one man/woman army(the few fights against reapers not withstanding)

Dominique Brassel

This could be interesting to see sage does make sense...... Also while on the topic of companions a huragock(halo) or two could work for manufacture, prototypeing and R&D.... Or perhaps dragon(worm) for R&D as well.... Now that I think on this more there a way to few interesting R&D based characters that do not have an ego so big or a so self-righteous to make them (almost) useless as a possible companion( or that could be actually convinced to stay around)

Aojae

Ehh. I'll poke at it, but System's have become an immediate turn off for me due to all the low-qual around. Even knowing the quality of your works I still have that feeling

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I get that, actually. Part of the reason I wanted to take a stab at it was frustration with a lot of the System fics. I THINK I've come up with a workable version, but I'm already seeing a couple of ways I probably could have reigned it in slightly more. Not really an issue as it stands, I think, because of the scales involved in Mass Effect working out. Much like Halfway Broken was made out of my desire to see if I could make a Gamer element that wasn't completely OP to the point of wrecking the story, this is my attempt to do the same with a different sort of System.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

@Arya13579 Sadly, I dropped that one basically on chapter 1. I loathe stories that involve the MC dragging a kid around. It almost always fucks up the pacing by artificially injecting random slice of life crap the story would have done better without. Not to mention complicating the hell out of relationship options and wrecking some of the useful parts of reincarnation/Isekai setups. The moment I read that bit I dropped it like it was made out of plutonium and never looked sideways at it again.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

O.O okay, that second one sounds like watching a trainwreck happen and being unable to look away.

Kayden High

I’d like to recommend prana-bindu and mentat training for purchases. If that’s ok.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

@Dominique Brassel There are quite a few more than you might think. Just a few more or less off the cuff examples: Susan Storm Reed Richards (middling ego, mostly under control) Powergirl/Supergirl Peter Parker Forge (X-men) Curt Conners Henry McCoy/Beast Shuri Barbara Gordon Lucius Fox Iceberg (One Piece) Mercy (Overwatch) Mei-Ling (Overwatch) A bunch of Gundam characters Honestly, it I start branching into books, I could come up with more, but they'd be less well-known names. It really depends on what you're looking for, though. Someone like Mercy or Mei-Ling are single-field specialists. Supergirl and Peter Parker it gets downplayed because they take the field more often then they sit in a lab. Susan Storm and Barbara Gordon would honestly be two I'd consider as short list options as they are extremely intelligent but have other fields like Sage. Barbara being a computer wiz, Susan actually having been trained as a spy by Shield at one point. Not to mention being much more of an organizer than many other options. Nor are researchers the only possible angle. Someone like Pepper Potts would me insanely valuable for her ability to juggle a massive tech company. Natasha Romova for her counter intelligence skills. Etc.

2026-09-08 02:00 I actually like how… low key this system is? I think it would be more fun but more difficult to write as a type of like, multiversal Bazaar, but this is good too. Okay, so, summoning help… does it have to be a named character? Because summoning someone like a Taung forgemaster/ship engineer from the OG crusaders might be really helpful in the tech development and the whole “incoming galactic warfare” problem, as they were really good at integrating disparate tech bases they picked up in their conquest into a coherent whole, they don’t rely on space magic, *and* they’re Taung so they will have some very decent advice on how to both prepare for and conduct galactic scale warfare. Also they aren’t super racist, so that’s a plus.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I'm not sure either of those would even work for Asari, given how different their nervous system is. The whole meld thing they do is enabled by a radically different nervous system...

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I actually considered that, what I went with is one of maybe a dozen iterations of the idea I came up with. I felt that the way I did it here fit better with a Sci-fi setting. I'd probably have gone with more of a physically accessible Bazaar (through a pocket dimension or similar) in a lower tech setting. Strictly speaking? No, it doesn't have to be a named character. Most of them probably will be, but some of them might be more generic, particularly once she starts summoning larger numbers. The first few will likely be named characters in some fashion, just because they are likely to see the most interaction and dialogue.

Maglad

As for her managerial needs, I’d suggest either Sonafrom DxD, Tanya from youjo senki, or Ulric von Hutten from Azur Lane, as they all have managerial and paperwork experience and are strong enough to whoop the asses of any pirates that try to raid them. Hutten would be specially funny.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with any of those three :-(. I've only come across Tanya in fanfiction (and most of the time I don't enjoy it since her mindset is usually extremely amoral). DxD and Azur Lane I know even less about.

Maglad

Well, Sona is a young devil heiress that wants to open a public school system in the underworld, and for that she's going to school in the human world while working as student council president (and doing extra work like managing the school budget and so on) while planning on studying management in college after highschool, so she knows her way around managing work, plus she can use water magic to great effect, and later on ice magic when she grows stronger. I can easily see her agreeing to help our heroine for the experience value alone. Tanya is a former Human Resource manager who fired a drug addict that got caught using company funds to buy drugs. Tried to get him to seek help, go to rehab on the company's dime, but the addict refused (well, remember mental healthcare is something of a stigma in Japan), so Tanya fired him. Later that day, the addict pushed her in front of a train as revenge, and upon death Tanya got into an argument with a lazy self proclaimed God that kept complaining about humanity's vile ways. Tanya basically disassembled his arguments with logic, and the self-proclaimed god said "hey, come think about it, you really enjoyed killing people, didnt you?" to which Tanya replied "In videogames, yes." And the self-proclaimed deity said "doesn't matter, sin is sin" and reincarnated the former salaryman into a magical World War I to suffer until Tanya surrenders and worships him. Which Tanya refuses to do, no matter how much the self proclaimed god tortures her. Through the entire story, Tanya keeps trying to get sent to the rearlines to work in a managerial position, but because she sticks so hard to the word of the rules, everyone is convinced she's a super soldier and tactical genius so they keep throwing her into combat. Is a 'comedy of misunderstandings' like that of Overlord, where all of Nazarick's NPS keep going "you're so great. Ainz sama!" But really, give her a management position, and she'll be super happy. And she can fire artillery-class magic shots if pirates or reapers show up to mess with her peaceful factory managerial work. Hutten is the spirit of the Ulric Von Hutten, a super battleship that was never built in real story, but was built in Azur Lane. She's... basically think of Ruby Rose from RWBY and you have her mirror image, looks wise. Now add that she also wields a scythe, just that Hutten's has tiny naval cannons on it that hit with the full force of a full-size naval cannon, and she can also summon a steel snake pokemon with even more guns... yeah, I can see those pirates or reapers getting to her office and being evicted by naval artillery fire. In Azur Lane, you can pick her to work as your secretary, which means she's used to handling budgets, schedules, supply chains, etc, so I think she'd do a great job in this story. She's also a punk goth-fashionista and more Yang than Ruby, personality-wise. I think she's be great. So yeah, if you want an efficient secretary that can defend the base on her own, Sona, Tanya or Hutten would do the job, and do it well.

Maglad

This type of system is somewhat recurrent in korean and chinese fantasy stories. I recommend 'the lord's gold coins don't go down' if you wanna read a similar story. A young lord bought an 'immortality item' that actually worked (sort of) by resurrecting him in his past self upon death, with a merchant system that lets him buy and sell things from /to other worlds. The MC uses this to basucally play the market and buy himself magical books, cultivation techniques and all that stuff. One of those super rare cultivation stories where the MC doesn't hog ALL the resources, as he gifts his older sister (who basically sacrificed her entire adult life raising him) a cheap sword technique skill, that is still superior to anything else in their world. Kind of literally "This is so bad I couldn't resell it to anyone on the multidimensional market, so instead of just hitting the delete button and make inventory space, may as well give it to my older sister that sacrificed her entire adult life raising me. Praise me, for I am surely the epitome of kindness."

Maglad

I don't see what the problem is with WH40K. Just don't buy anything chaos related and you'd be okay. Industrial amounts of Lasguns should be great. Sure they're a joke in WH40K but that's only because everything else in that setting is so op that laser guns that NEVER jam and can work reliably after being used as hammers is no big deal, even if they can vaporize holes the size of melons in concrete. The problem is, eldar weapons can shoot black holes, so the poor lasguns are jokes BY COMPARISON, but on ME? Should be amazing. Tau pulse and plasma weapons are really good too, and necron phase swords can ignore non-organic, non-ensouled matter to bypass any armor or defense or weapon parry and cut at the soul of a target. May not do anything to a reaper, but to anything with a soul? Deadly.

Maglad

Oh, how about buying a can of DUST from Endless Space? Cloud of intelligent, programmable nanites that you could get a glass worth of, throw at an asteroid field, and let them eat that to make more DUST which you can then instantaneously order to rearrange itself into anything, from clothing to tools to ships so fuckhuge they use suns as engines. Google up "Behemoth endless space 2". The reapers should really wear brown pants before messing with a faction that has access to these babies. Hell, just get a cup of DUST in an early chapter, release it on an out-of-the-way solar system and tell it to eat all the planets to make your a behemoth. It'll be funny. 20 chapters later, you can teabag the reapers however you want. Plus, behemoths are not just attack ships, not at all! You can use them as science stations thanks to them being so damn tough you can park them in a black hole to study it from the inside, or even mine it! Or a planet (in just a few turns/chapters), or terraform entire worlds, going from lifeless rock to paradise world in a dozen chapters. When you have a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. When you have a behemoth, you have no problems.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

*sweat drops* I'm trying to make a story with a System that ISN'T completely broken for the setting. That sounds more like something this is utterly broken to the point of destroying any meaningful attempt at conflict...

Maglad

I still think at least the tetra morphing would be okay, if done over a dozen chapters or so. The quarians would be grsteful. Btw I really liked that explanation on why the majority of the Assri resent them, thinking of them as the violent half of a civil war

Maglad

Also at least a ‘wtf, why!?’ Comment at seeing ‘endless space universe: a can of dust - 999.999.999 credits’ would be funny. ‘Why is this more expensive than a green lantern ring!?’

Maglad

Come think about it, as per the guidelines you’ve given your trans dimensional marketplace, shouldn’t eezo sell really high?

Flyingavocados

I know people tend to think big=hung but wouldn’t it make more sense for krogan to be small like gorillas? It would be safer on a planet like tuchanka

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Not if you consider Krogan body structures. They are ungainly as hell, which would make mating nearly impossible if they were like gorillas. Besides, gorillas are not the norm for large creatures, but the exception.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Not really, it's just the Mass Effect 'unobtanium.' Prices are high for TECH that is beyond other realities tech base. Not for the basic raw materials required to make the tech work.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I apologize for not being clear enough. I know who those characters ARE, and the basics about them. I don't know them well enough to WRITE them.

Flyingavocados

After some research I’d like to unsee I think you’re right.

Aeden Emrys

Thanks for this new story! I hope to be reading much more of this interesting story!

Mamothdinolover 112

Have you seen elephants? They use their dicks as fly swatters.

Mamothdinolover 112

Probably also wouldn't work. Sona and Tanya use magic and azure lane is technomagic bullshit.
