Alright guys, gals, apache helicopters, and others! I know it's only been a bit over two days since I posted Stripper with a System, but I sort of need to get this poll up and running so that it can get results in time for me to run the major monthly poll for next month's story. This particular poll will run only for five days, ending on the 18th, so that the November Story Poll has a full week to run (19-25th).

As for what the poll is about, of course, if it wasn't obvious?

The fate of Mass Effect: Eridium Dreams and Stripper with a System.

I have a standing rule of only writing a single fic in any one universe at a time. The reason for this is two fold. First, I don't want to burn my muse out for any individual setting and end up running out of motivation to write in that setting. Second, I don't want to deal with having to mentally keep two versions of the same setting separate. Since I treat canon like a suggestion, at best, I have to track AU changes I've made in each story. Which is hard enough without having to worry about mixing them up between two stories set in the same universe, ongoing at the same time, and which might go months between updates.

As a result, I'm only planning to actively continue ONE of the two Mass Effect stories. I'm reluctant to say the loser will be outright abandoned. It's entirely possible I may return to the losing story sometime in the future (I hate leaving things unfinished). But only one of these two stories will have a place in the monthly story poll, with an active chance at being updated via voting every month. The other will only get updates if, for whatever reason, I feel an urge to work on it as an extra.

So, without further ado:

Pick Your Poison: Which of these two stories would you most prefer to see continued?

I know I read Eridium Dreams but it's been so long that I've forgotten it. New one is fresh and exciting and it's hilarious to me that she's funding herself with a sex business empire.

To be honest, that's actually my problem as the writer too. It loses the polling for such long periods that, by the time it wins, I've forgotten a lot of detail and have to reread it so I don't trip over what I already wrote. Ironically, it's probably the best editing of any current fic, as I've had to reread it in its entirety multiple times...

It has stripper in n the title...enough said

SwaS : The premise is super fun, and I cant wait for more Can we just call it 'Sas' because the MC is Sassy XD

As much as I like elements of Eridium Dreams I do think it just hasn't really caught on with the audience and I would really like another Mass effect story from you. If SwaS can maintain more interest than I will go with it. Perhaps you can take some elements of Eridium dreams and recycle them into another fic someday. I just really enjoyed how you created the whole lore and set-up of the Sirens in it. Heck maybe you could even still have some aspects of them show up in SwaS from the Omniversal Market. Though they might require being tweaked to be a new type of Biotic/have it be EEZO tattoos? That could certainly fit in with the "create an arms race" theme of ideas at the least. Having the various races suddenly confronted with entirely new ways to utilize biotics, and new biotic abilities/applications and thus new combat styles: that alone would spur new research, but the possible new applications of Mass Effect technology that could be created based of biotic-powered Siren abilities?

I have read both fics and I don't see a problem with merging them into one. I love the version of humanity in Eridium dream, and I love the idea of a story with an Asari MC, so could I have both? Please?

I like eridium dreams, but you seem to be having much more fun with this new one, so go wild girl<3

Unfortunately, that would be a bit of a nightmare, since that version of humanity doesn't mesh with what Rylia knows. There was no first contact war in Eridium Dreams, and humanity was MUCH stronger, though still not quite on par with the big three Citadel Races. Better tech, but not enough numbers. I also don't really like complicating stories. Most of my works tend to focus on making one change that then balloons slowly into a massive derail, rather than changing tons of things and trying to mesh it all together. The only time I've done that was with Why Was There No Truck!?, and that one is a whole series of weird exceptions.

Honestly, the Sirens are what I really wanted to play with in Eridium Dreams, more than anything else. So it's highly likely it will show up again in some future story, even if it doesn't in Swas.

Glad to hear that. And SwaS having the Market just seemed the easiest/most obvious current fic to add them to. Pokemon as a whole generally feels too light of a setting to really do justice to having sirens. One Piece would seemingly best have a Siren come about from an original devil fruit and thus would lose the artificially created aspect of the Eridium Dreams type sirens (unless the devil fruit was some experimental type of artificially made fruit that more than one at a time can be made) and even then would seem to be a bit much for Halfway Broken's story. I am not familiar enough with MHA or Nier to make any judgements on how/if they could fit in Automata, besides that fic being close to a wrap up, though the combination of Quirks and advanced technologies might make it feasible to have something like ED's Artificial Sirens. Its vaguely possible that Siren's powers could be replicable in the Star Wars setting, through the Force and possibly cloning/genetic augmentation mixed with cybernetics and probably sith/force alchemy on force sensitives. So maybe could be added to Displaced Hero as a joint brain child of the ancient Sith and Izuku's manic inventor combining forces and knowledge bases to create something new to enhance and/or have a quicker turnaround for getting trained/capable force wielders from newly 'awakened' force sensitives. Or maybe as a method to "create" new force sensitives after studying the phenomenon of non-sensitive/low midiclorian individuals being able to sense the force after the confrontation with the Hutt sith. Plus it could be an interesting way to get Padme some force capabilities. One possible way to incorporate a version might be fore Harry and Pandora to make more magical AI like her and find a way to actually steal/strip the magical tap (say from the Death Eaters somehow) and use that to power them, possibly to give the AI/tap to muggles. The tattoos become Artificial Channels and those combined with AI like Pandora being able to use internal/"body" magic could lead to the creation of magical Sirens. Though that does have the downside of being objectively a bit darker, and in-setting would certainly be classed as Dark Magic and would literally be giving fuel/proof to Death Eater rhetoric. The Amalgam world of No Truck is still so open ended that I don't know how well or if Sirens could fit in to the setting, and it is still so new that the actual adding of such at this point seem like they could detract from the current "establishing" arc of both the character and the world building/lore currently going on. Because there is already so many universe in the Amalgam if the Artificial Sirens were added as just another background program/power setting they might work, but that way would mean limiting how much they could be utilized/explored, but adding them more to the "foreground" would take too much of the story's focus, at least at the current point of developments. That said, the process by which you Started the Amalgam verse could be an interesting way to approach a new fic/character having Siren Powers and possibly the method to create more people like them within their new setting/universe. It just would depend on if having two fics with a similar origin/set-up (even if the end setting, powers, and universe ended up being completely different from No Truck) would mean you wouldn't make another fic to have Siren(s) from that method of creation/origin even if you created an entirely different Setting/World for the character to insert into after creation. I could understand it going either way, plus adding yet another new fic before finishing another (possibly Automata if it gets the votes to reach its conclusion or if you just decide you want to make the fic a priority in order TO conclude it and thus clear a space for a new fic) doesn't seem like something you're going to do, so this possibility seems the least likely, at least at the moment. But, yeah, I think I have clearly illustrated how much I desire to also see you play with the concept of the Sirens from ED, even if you won't/don't add them to any current story. I still hope you will return to their concept at some point. Heck maybe you'll even do so with the Main Character being a reincarnated Mara in a new universe. Still being a Siren, just with what being a Siren means being different due to different origins, but with her bringing her experience of being one in the Borderlands universe to the new universe and thus likely "creating" "new" Siren skills/abilities? No idea what setting/universe you might want to add both Her and the Artificial Sirens together into, but I can think of plenty where it could be appropriate (HALO for one, as a competitive or parallel program to the Spartan program for example, just as an example of one verse where such a program and MC would fit into the world setting and story pretty organically). And I can see you making whatever fic does bring back the idea of the artificially created Sirens also being one where you work in your favorite Siren as being the MC when you do explore the concept of Sirens again.

NovaBrain

Yeah. I thought about it after posting the comment and I agree with you. A sort of "hat on a hat" thing.

I miss dreams, unfortunately it made the mistake of getting ran over by halfway broken. After so long without an update a lot of the hype for that plot has died down. Plus, stripper seems like it'll be fun!
