Happy New Year, everyone! Hopefully, 2026 will be good to everyone here! Well, assuming none of you are secretly serial killers or something...

-Squints in momentary suspicion. But then realizes that if they like his stuff, they clearly must be alright! Somewhere Nero-chan approves.-

I'm almost late getting this out since it's both longer than usual for a 1st of the month release, and I needed to sleep off yesterday -_-. There was entirely too much weed involved in the annual Lan party I went to. Not from me (I dislike the stuff. I don't care if others love or hate it, I just personally don't like it) or even the two people I actually go to see. Rather, it was one of their kids and the group of reprobates from college they brought along. Seriously, I haven't had a contact high since my own long-gone years in college, and it's even less pleasant at my current age than it was back then.

Anyway, getting back on track, we have a nice 8,400+ words release of Halfway Broken to ring in 2026 with! Including a bit of lemon zest, for those of you who want it :-p. This particular release focuses down on relationships a bit, but don't worry too much if that's not your thing. While it's something that needs building on during the Timeskip, it also won't be the sole focus of such. As evidenced by their just-concluded adventure on Drakestone.

As usual, the new chapters are attached here in various formats, and the new Master Files, containing the entire story, will be up in the Pinned Post shortly. I'll also be doing some Author's Notes for the chapters after I get that done. You'll be able to find them in the comments, also as usual, though give it a bit so I can actually write them :-p. Thanks for the chapter! Looking forward to Weatheria and then Rusukaina :) Beyond Rayleigh’s initial haki lessons, Rusukaina will be a great island for the crew to revisit at several points during the timeskip so that they can train against strong opponents. Would love to see a good chunk of the crew ‘conquer’ the island by the end of their two year training. Happy new year!

Chapter 98 A/N 1: Honestly, aside from pointing out the ridiculousness of how easy it actually SHOULD be to navigate the Grand Line, if Oda didn't ignore all logic, not a lot to say about this chapter :-p. It's really just cleanup of the Drakestone adventure and setup for the next arc.

Chapter 99 A/N 1: Alright! Hopefully you are liked the relationship building and lemon! The major note here is actually about Vivi, though. I tweaked her age pretty close to the start of her addition to the story and mentioned as much at the time. Though the tweak was VERY minor. A few months, really. Essentially, I did that specifically so that she'd be 17 going into the Time Skip. Which, in turn, is because I refuse to write lemon content with any character under the age of 18 :-p. That means you shouldn't expect anything more than kissing, cuddling, or off-screen heavy petting with her for a few more updates/arcs. You'll just have to settle for the steady escalation with Yamato ;-).

Yep to Rusukaina being somewhat useful. Honestly more to the rest of the crew instead of Luffy and Yamato. Those two are already far enough along that the island won't be all that directly useful to them, though what Rayleigh can teach personally will be. Zoro, in particular, will benefit from it as an alternative to his training with Mihawk and the Humadrills. At least as far as Haki goes.

Yeah I can see that! It will definitely be useful for Zoro, Kuina and Sanji (and Nojiko?) to rapidly grow to Luffy’s post-timeskip level in canon. Will also be useful for the others, perhaps help with further improving their team work when fighting against a stronger opponent for example!

Most of the crew (everyone but Perona and Brook) have at least one unlocked form of Haki. So it will be broadly applicable :-). Though, if I recall correctly, one of the major points was to learn Conqueror's. Which Zoro has, but I honestly haven't ever decided if any of the others do...

Also I meant aiming to beat all the animals on Rusukaina would be useful for those specific crewmates in my previous comment, not Rayleigh’s lessons on Haki which I know will be useful for everyone on the crew :)

I'm sort of with you on Conqueror's not being logical to be 'inborn,' on the flip side, that IS the stated canon. I've already subverted it a bit with Kaya. In her case she essentially is just so talented with Spiritual Anything that she effectively copied Luffy's, rather than having it natively. Which, I think, would probably need to be Kuina's route to it as well. Remember, she originally needed Zoro to kick her in the ass to actually dream of being the greatest, despite her talent. That tends to make me think she wouldn't natively possess it. On the other hand, I gave her some native talent for spiritual energy, so Kaya could probably help her duplicate it. Nami, Usopp and Vivi...I don't think either of them have the right personality to develop it at all. Not even with help. As far as I can tell, Conqueror's Haki is essentially the extreme version of 'I reject your reality and substitute my own!' Which doesn't really fit either of them. Sanji, Nojiko, Robin, and Hina I could see eventually fitting that mold. Robin likely the most, as she's sort of lived that for most of her life. This version of Hina, meanwhile, certainly set herself on that path. Brook and Perona I can't see having the right personalities...but both of them have Spirit-adjacent DFs that might let them get in via the back door with Kaya. Chopper and Pagaya I can't see ever developing it.

You know I never really considered the negatives of Boa losing the waifu polls. She genuinely liked Luffy for not turning to stone without haki, but here the only thing going for this Luffy is freeing the slaves and accidentally killing celestial dragons and an elder. It'll be interesting to see how you write a ride or die like her with possibly no interest in this Luffy, maybe even being straight up antagonistic towards him and the crew (though I doubt she would be due to Rayleigh). Tyftc Novus!

A minor thing, but why was Luffy making a big deal about not having much room to store all the dragonbone in the Discovery's storage (and how he needed to have Vivi Air Door it to their base)? Can he not just store the dragonbones in his inventory?
