Some Quick Announcements (Patreon)

Alright! Before anything else, remember that the March Story Poll is due to close on the 25th. If you haven't voted yet, make sure and stop by to do that.

Now, with that reminder out of the way, I've got a few quick things to cover. The Displaced Hero for this month is written and just waiting the edit I'll do tonight, so expect to see that tomorrow as normal. In addition, I've managed to knock out a small update for My Hero Automata. It's not quite done yet, and will only come in at around 5k, but it's something to get that fic inching closer to the finish line. I'll release it in a few days when I've got it cleaned up.

Those two things were minor, but the last one is a bit more major...so don't lynch me please?

Specifically, the first release of Halfway Broken for March is going to be replaced by a My Hero Automata update. NOTE that I very specifically said the first release, as in one half of the total for the month at most, possibly less. The update for the 15th, which is generally the larger of the two, will still be provided as normal. So don't panic and think you aren't getting any Halfway Broken at all in March.

There are multiple reasons for me making this executive decision and, surprisingly, the largest one isn't the fact that I'm incredibly frustrated at My Hero Automata being so close to finishing and not being able to wrap it up. That certainly played a part in which story would be replacing that Halfway Broken update, but it wasn't the biggest reason.

The biggest reason it that I have almost zero existing exposure to Jinbe.

I've found somewhere to start reading the post-timeskip manga to help change that, but I need some time to chew through enough of it for him to actually join the crew and be around. I need a feel for his personality before I write the rest of the Summit that they are in the midst of right now. To be frank, I have no idea if I even want him on the crew or not, because I'm almost entirely blank on the character. I've only been exposed to him from the Impel Down/Marineford Arc, the little he appeared there, and the Fishman Island Arc, the little he appeared there. I'm already starting to struggle a bit to juggle the expanded crew as is, so if he ends up being someone I just can't find a reason to give a damn about, he might end up being an ally instead of a crew member.

That isn't decided yet, though. I need some time to chew through enough of the manga to get a feel for him (I refuse to go back to the anime, watching the Wano Arc to get a feel for Yamato was HELL. I wanted to brutalize everyone involved in its production, with the red-faced frustration of a thousand angry teenagers). Hence, the small delay/skip of a single update, so I have enough time to get through some of the manga...

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know that's the plan ahead of time, so it doesn't surprise anyone.
