Allllrighty then! Time for this month's Displaced Hero release! Though, a quick reminder first. There are only three days left (2 and a half really) on the monthly poll! So make sure you get your votes in.

With that reminder out of the way, a few words about the update. Don't worry too much if you're getting tired of the mini-jumps forward we're doing toward the Clone Wars (I know I am kinda getting sick of writing dozens of snippets like this), as this should be the last update that's only those. There will be another chapter or two worth of them next month but, if all goes to plan, the chapter which properly kicks off the Clone Wars in full should happen towards the end of next month's update. After that, the dozens of mini-timeskips I'm using to close the gap between the Crusade and the Clone Wars will come to an end, returning the focus back primarily to Izuku and Co's perspective as the war kicks off.

The images! As you might have guessed, the ship is a very rough AI generation of the Miruko-class. Frankly, I'm not entirely happy with it, but it gives the general idea of the ship, at least. The second and third images are the formal wear for Aayla and Izuku respectively. Aayla's is an actual Legends outfit that Aayla wore while undercover as the spoiled daughter of a wealthy shipping baron in one of the One-Shot Comic that Featured Her. Meaning it really does represent something a rich Twi'lek woman might wear. Izuku's formal wear was the result of me looking for something that wasn't a suit or robe and had decent gravitas to it.

As usual, the new stuff is attached to this post in various formats, and I'll be posting new Master Files in the Pinned Post. I'll also put author's notes in the comments below when I have time. Enjoy more of 'Can One Displaced Hero Save the Galaxy?'!

This comment is for author's notes! Beware spoilers! And if you want to comment on one of them, please do so in a separate comment NOT nested here, in order to keep these orderly!

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Chapter 127 A/N 1: The whole Tython Expedition mostly exists for exactly the reasons Aayla observed. Yoda attempting diplomacy with the Ossus academy after having a largely positive trip there. He sees promise in it and the League and is trying to undercut the traditionalists who might throw a fit about it. A/N 2: Ding Dong the Hutts are dead...or at least no longer in power, since the League didn't go full Geocide on them. I don't intend to put a lot of focus on the 'innocent' Hutts going forward, though the community of them on Jabim that Fay set up took in a lot of the young ones to be raised in a less criminal environment.

Chapter 128 A/N 1: A brief little snippet of what Anakin and Obi-wan are up to. Since people frequently request such :-p. Poor Obi-wan is very cold, while Anakin is actually something like productive and well-adjusted. An amazing feat, if I do say so myself... A/N 2: Asajj get's raised to Knighthood. A much better outcome for her than canon...

Chapter 129 A/N 1: Obviously, Bail and his Queen getting the information is the result of the Jedi choosing who to send stuff to in the previous chapter, if anyone didn't make that connection. Alderaan isn't NEARLY as pacifist before the Imperial Era, possessing a sizable security force. Meaning them gearing up is going to have some effects. Same with Kashyyyk, though with them it's more a strategic position as their fleet won't be huge.

Chapter 130 A/N 1: I considered making the renaming of Nal Hutta to Evocar a big part of the Ceremony, but ultimately decided it didn't quite work. Instead, I figure they did it as part of the formal invitations, then drove the point home by holding the Ceremony in a terraformed city with as many Evocii around as they could find. A/N 2: Just for clarity sake, Padmé and Sabé don't have Zavra's full range of 'fun' implants, as many of them aren't yet suitable for humans. They have a very basic set intended to let them have certain kinds of fun without the same risks of exposure/reputation damage as wearing the belts they went off with the first time. The enjoyed the play, but couldn't justify the continuing risks, so Zavra offered an alternative. It hasn't come up yet, but they ALSO got a set of human-adjusted Bone Lace/Muslce Lace/Skin Weave. Which will come as a nasty surprise when someone inevitably tries to assassinate Padmé again.

i've been enjoying the story even with the time jump segments, but i'm definitely looking forwards to getting tot eh clone wars proper. i don't normally post these, but this one caught my eye: page 6 (pdf form) in the first major paragraph after the break, you have "significant among of discoveries" which i'm pretty confident should be 'amount' not 'among' also, later on at one point you had palpatine talking about the murder of an 'Ask Moe', and hte name so amused me (UwU) that i had to look them up, and found that they are actually Aks Moe, which isn't nearly as amusing of a name, lol overall, it's good to see the end of the hutt wars, and i'm really looking forwards tot eh next chapters

GabrielusPrime

As a fan of the Cowboy Bebob anime, I kinda want Anakin working on new Starfighters to somehow result in Spike's Swordfish II, even if it's a throwaway line and descriptive paragraph about how his "personal project" is too dangerous to pilot for anyone but him or "pilots that are actively trying to get killed by their own ship", which is canonically what the that ship was actually like if you weren't both among the absolute best and completely insane... 😋

Crescent Sunrise

I actually quite enjoy the little snippets of what people are doing. To me, it fits well in this space opera setting. And it's a nice buildup towards the Clone Wars. Similar to the buildup to the Hutt Crusade, this will establish the players and potential heavy hitters going into the initial conflict. Also, I like the overall design of the Miruko Class, though I would say the spires are definitely the least logical part (thanks AI). Looks more like a flying city, or a different Class of space hulk like The Citadel from Mass Effect.

Aeden Emrys

Thanks for the story so far 😁! I look forward to reading much more of this greatly interesting story 🤠!

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I'm glad not everyone is sick of them yet :-p. As for the Miruko-class design...yeah, I dislike the spires as well. If I ever have the time to properly sketch the ship myself, it won't include those.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

That would certainly fit Anakin's personality. If I remember right, the Swordfish II was a modified racer.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Yeah, a lot of the buildup has been needed, but it's getting old :-p. Even for me to write. Thanks for the typo corrections, I'll make sure they get into the Master File :-).

GabrielusPrime

Yep. It also kinda has a profile similar to the Z-95 in Star Wars that predated the X-Wing, so he kinda has a starting point, but basically, I said that because Anakin pouting at everyone who knows how dangerous it is giving him the "you suicidal maniac" look seems like it'd be funny. 😂

TheZombieDoc

Honestly, I've been loving this story. Starwars timelines are always pretty bloated, so the skipping makes sense. The fact that these snapshots also set up potential side stories is also pretty nice if you ever choose to play with this setting more.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Yeah, I don't want the story to drag on foooorrrreeevvvverrrr. Which is what would have happened if I tried to detail out everything in the years between...

DarkestCalling

As much as I love the story and is by far my favorite of yours honestly feel that izuku/the league should be doing more like as broken as they could become they should honestly constantly have a set duplicating and setting up as many shipyards and hidden depots as possible even if they just have them sitting in a secret warehouse pumping out war materials that are harder or more expensive to source much less during a conflict which they know is coming (also would find it hilarious if mei pulls out something like a dagger shaped fighter droid made entirely out of either beskar cortosis weave coated in phik that just made chaos flying through ships or she secretly made like a capital ship outta it for izuku ) Also kinda surprised that mei isnt working with more then just phrik I mean star wars has a lot of random super materials also did they try and get the ies to recreate a power gem ? Also with the amount of money they have why aren't they abusing it to get whatever they can need or use they don't have to buy directly or show off but buying using cut outs or hidding it as much as possible Also kinda feels weird how little izuku is participating in the actions for just his battle meditation and it's boost to preventing deaths and also increasing the skill level of everyone in it Also kinda feels like they should be building up more of the drone forces since you keep mentioning Thier quality to quantity approach and how outmatched they are by both the cis and Republic honestly feels like mei should be able to out do some of the high spec droids the cis can produce or shouldn't the ies have like the hk-47 model not sure how advanced it was maybe increase the droid to pilot numbers where each human pilot has an increased wingman count maybe have pilots run simulations with Thier droid brain wingmen so they can build a sorta increased coop level and have back ups so if the pilot lives each wingman can be updated with Thier specs or something Or even just using something like a connection to the qec network to a super computer/server farm to allow the droids to act in more synch and grow better with each engagement Also kinda feels it's weird how consistently izuku keeps basically ignoring the force after being surrounded by Jedi and in universe for so long not to mention the concrete force guidance like even if not as reliant on it as Jedi with his direct connection why isn't he using it more plus why does the dark side so hidden from him considering his connection is the cosmic force not the light side not the dark side but the force in general also I think the living force is lore wise like an aspect of the cosmic force but still simply a part of the force I could understand more if like he had a talent towards the cosmic more then the living but honestly he seems more aligned to the physical then the esoteric Sorry for the rant but just caught up on the story it's been on my build up list so I had a good chunk to read once I reread it I can understand trying not to make the faction to overpowered or something but kinda feel mei would be scifi savvy enough to just have a general idea plus just general actual skill to make more use of the droids And izuku after the everything he's been through realistic enough to abuse every option he can to have the most forces and everything he can have when shit hits the fan

I have to say that this is definitely one of my top three Star Wars fanfictions. I'm always on board for world building, realistic good guys, competent antagonists, and actually dealing with the individual planetary and internal politics of various governments like you are showing here. As for the build up to the clone wars, while I don't mind however long it takes to make the story work, I'm definitely looking forward to when the Clone Wars will start.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Wow. A lot of word vomit there to deconstruct, but I'll give it a shot. The problem in trying to address your points is that they are, in fact, pretty much all interconnected...and you've also missed or not-understood certain things. So... 1) They ARE using the IES to make rare materials or complex parts. They is, very literally, the PRIMARY thing they are doing with them. In fact, it's virtually the ONLY thing they are doing with them. Every IES production center (currently 5 shipyards and 1 planet-side being used to make rare materials/complex parts for starfighters and the various mechs) only has the IES as it's CORE. Raw materials go in, the IES produces either rare materials or the hardest/most expensive parts to make (In example, Quantum Comms or Hyperdrives). Actual ship assembly, as well as construction of more mundane parts, is handled traditionally in order to get the highest possible use out of each IES. 2) Producing more Infinite Engine Seeds requires more than just time on an IES. They are ultimately Force-tech, and it requires a massive amount of Force energy to grow a new seed. This was true of the original Star Forge as well, and it's DANGEROUS. Done too fast or too recklessly, you end up with a Dark Side tainted factory like that Star Forge itself was. To get around this, they found a series of Force Nexuses that are light-aligned and allowed the new seeds to slowly siphon Force from them. It still took a couple of years to go from a new seed, to what they consider a 'IES Core' suitable for a shipyard, and one of them nearly became tainted in the process. They actually DO have two more seeds growing (they aren't using the third site again as it caused the near-failure), but producing new IES cores will always be slow. 3) I have no idea where you got the idea that Mei's droids don't already massively outspec anything the CIS has. The Leagues standard combat droid is on par with, or better than, the Commando Droids that the CIS doesn't even have yet. QUALITY at quantity. Those droids also numbered something like 20 MILLION at the START of the Hutt Crusade, and by now have likely at tripled that number. The standard policy is 20 droids for 1 sentient, after all, and the League ground forces started around a million strong and have surged quite a bit since then. 4) Drone/Droid starfighters suck. This had been true throughout all of Star Wars. The League got around this by their trick of making every Drone a wingman to a specific pilot. The droid brain in the drone learns SPECIFICALLY how that pilot flies, and how to be the perfect wingman for that SPECIFIC pilot. With the droid brain growing with them. Every combat sortie the drone survives makes the drone a more perfect match to the pilot. Even when destroyed, backups are made after every mission and training sim, so at worst the droid loses a single battle worth of experience. This makes the pilot-droid pairs INCREDBILY good, most likely better than even two ace pilots working in tandem. But it can't really be expanded on. Again, its the League's policy to have really high QUALITY, not toss out thousands of piss-poor droid fighters. 5) I have zero clue where you got the idea Izuku is ignoring the Force. His specific connection to it makes it hard for him to use it for long-term 'guidance' like the Jedi go on a regular basis. But he otherwise uses it extensively day-to-day. 6) They are pouring tens of billions of credits into hundreds of worlds to rapidly uplift them. They are, in fact, massively abusing their wealth. They can only do that to a certain extent without crashing the galactic economy. But they are, in fact, spending literally trillions of credits to rapidly take former slave worlds with minimal industry and make them productive. Not to mention the trillions MORE they are spending on their army and navy.

Hopefully, if the outline actually holds up, that will be in the last chapter of the April update :-p. It's always hard for me to be sure I won't need more or less word count for certain sections, though.

The Foreign Traveler

And thus, an Empire had fallen. Let’s hope a “certain” one doesn’t get the chance to rise. Yeah, those bothered me a lot... to the point where, as I was catching up on this fic, I actually just covered them up with clouds when saving the image on my notes for this fic. https://i.imgur.com/0KXqlgN.png It's not the cleanest editing job, but the Miruko-class looks *way* cooler without those nonsensical spires.

Rogue Knight + Rogue Knight II: The Return of the Sith by Delkatar and Ridire Corcairdhearg: The Shard of War and Blood by theirishdreamer are the other two favorites. Though word of warning, they are both a bit clunkier than this one is in terms of writing style. On the other hand, the plot, in my opinion, for both more than make up for it. The Force Wills by Keiran Halcyon gets an honorable mention since Novus mentioned it inspired some of the content of the next four chapters and I'm still enjoying it.
