Whew! I've been itching to release this one, since for some reason a bunch of people took 'I figured out a fix for Bruce's morality issues' as a reason to jump in and list ways to fix it *sweatdrop*. Mind you, I appreciate the enthusiasm and discussion! It's just that, in this specific case, I was biting my tongue and trying really hard to so spoil anything. By the time I said anything, I'd already written the fix , and am quite pleased with the solution I came up with. It played out really well, in my opinion. Particularly with being able to use Bruce's perspective to highlight something about Rylia that is well hidden by her personality and methods, but has been intentionally an underlying component of everything she's done so far.

Still, I wrote a schedule, and I'm trying to stick to is so that I always have a couple of updates buffered against writer's block or life events. So, despite itching to release this, I held off until the day this was actually supposed to release ;-).

Anyway! Enjoy the latest addition to Stripper With a System! As usual, the new stuff is attached here. Since this is the last update of it for the month, I will also be updating the Master Files shortly. Author's Notes will be in the comments when I have a moment to actually write them...

Chapter 18: A/N 1: *Breathes huge side of relief.* This, this is the solution I came up with. Too many people forget that Batman is just as much a serial mentor as he is the Greatest Detective or Brooding Emoman. Adding a second summon in Lucy, someone whose EVERYTHING basically screams 'Mentor Me Batman-senpai!' was a neat way to solve the morality conundrum. Just as Batman doesn't fight Jason Todd on his more questionable methods, he can tolerate Someone Else handling the darker bits for long enough to eliminate the need for those slowly. Particularly when the someone handling it is a person that fits really well into his mentor profile. Mind you, this did break my usual rule of only doing one summons at a time. But Bruce and Lucy are going to be more independent of regular interactions with Rylia anyway, once they take over the Broker Network at least. So that's not a huge problem in this unique case...

Chapter 19: A/N 1: A LOT of people have been asking for perspectives beyond Rylia's. I haven't bothered with them yet, since a lot of the perspectives people seem to want...and people who will not have noticed jack squat about Rylia yet. She's been intentionally lying low, and there's absolutely zero chance any of her operations have come to the attention of the Council, or even someone like Benezia yet. On the galactic scale, she's mostly a no one so far, intentionally so. That said, it decided that the version of Shepard I'm going with had a reason to maybe find some of Rylia's content, so that served as one perspective. Meanwhile, Miranda and Dalsir worked well as others a bit closer to home. Particularly as Miranda's connects somewhat to Shepard's.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Chapter 20: A/N 1: So, Bruce served as a really good way to underline something about Rylia that has likely gone (intentionally) unnoticed by a lot of readers. I sort of hid WHY she was the one that got picked by the Marketplace under the slight Crack! of her Sex Toy Empire and general personality. But it was always present. The Marketplace chose her because she's exactly the sort of stubborn fool to look at the impossible and, instead of despairing, immediately start looking for leverage to make the impossible possible. Something that Bruce can recognized, as he's seen that personality in the mirror for decades. A fact that should add a neat extra layer to their interactions as, despite her absurd methods, he has legitimate reason to RESPECT her, in ways he rarely does even with people like Diana and Clark.

Snowy

I love it! Well written and planned. I was pleasantly surprised where we went (with the two summons) and who we got to hear from (I liked the peek at Sheppard, and I like even more it made sense).

TheCoolest7248

Yay, Lucy's here! I was worried I wouldn't see her after Batman won by a landslide.

Aojae

For shame. I wanted Batman's reactions to the Sex Toy funding. Thanks for the chapters~

Dominique Brassel

Mh that was an interesting solution for the Bruce summon I would say..... Of course we have another waifu with Lucy .....yes I hope she will be another one..... Also with that Shep pov I now want an Liara/Shep pairing that is friends with benefits with our MC and her hopefully big harem..... Also just a thought I had... project Lazerus that was Miranda's baby in Cerberus is something that if it becomes necessary this time around the mc could handle with them having taken over the shadow broker network by then as well as there medical R&D company....... Mh also Bruce should mentor the rest of our cast a bit as well.....

Orchamus

Glorious, I'm super stoked you chose both Bruce and Lucy, that is totally out of left field for my thoughts and I love that you surprised me with such a great idea 💡 Especially loved all the alt povs, made sense and add so much depth to what has gone on so far. Curious to see how that mentorship works out and how the Asari doc will bring her merc girls in to help. Maybe grab a soldier girl to head security?

Artemis

Thanks for the new chapters. I really liked your solution for balancing out some of the issues around both Bruce and Lucy. I wonder which Batgirl Kara dated. Probably Barbara since most people default there, but she had fun chemistry with Stephanie too back in Simone's Batgirl run. Rylia researching the next potential summon: Who the hell is this Star Knight person? Name feels kind of chuuni...

BookDragonling

There is a YouTube channel with 500+ million followers and that is just on our singular planet. The MC should probably have more followers or at least, very soon, gain way more followers than that considering the trillions of people in the Mass Effect universe.

Urbane_Bomber

I kind of want to see an omake of a character going back to their original universe after completing one of these deals. Only, they now have the tech, skills and knowledge from the deal universe to help them move forward.

Kayden High

I’m so hyped!!! Would it be possible for your fic to include other races that are from other settings?I would love to see Rocky’s species from Project Hail Mary.

Maglad

Uh… now I kinda want to read a Batman in night city story…

Maglad

When I read ‘lucy’. And ‘tragic past’ I though we were gonna go elfen lied on the reapers

Matthew Robar

Did not foresee the double summon coming, and it worked better than any other option could have, wish you showcased some of the interaction between Bruce and Lucy highlighting their mentorship dynamics

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Glad you liked it :-). Don't worry, their dynamics will be shone going forward, this was just getting them established.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Other races are certainly possible (After all, Kara isn't human). But I'm afraid I've never see Project Hail Mary.

Kayden High

You should it’s such a good space movie.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I've been trying to show a sane natural growth curve. Her original audience was only a few million, so shooting up to 300 million in a year is impressive-but-plausible. Her numbers will continue to go up, particularly as she gets more famous in her various ventures. Despite her successes, she's still a comparative unknown at this point.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I was intending it to be Barbara, though I admit this version of Kara would probably be cute with Cass as well. I'm honestly less familiar with Stephanie.

BookDragonling

Yeah i figured it wasnt any bigger since she started with porn stuff and thats somewhat niche for people to actually subscribe to (or at least i assume so) and it'll explode once more people learn about her new medical innovations.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Project Lazarus won't be needed. I LOATHE the way they handled the ME1->ME2 jump and will never, ever, use the canon version. That said, I've been subtly reusing the idea that Miranda is that talented in medical/cybernetics by having her focus in that area.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I was pleasantly surprised that the timing was just about right when I looked in on what age Shepard should be, and discovered that it was right around the timeframe that a Biotic Shepard would be exposed to a second dose of Eezo. It gave a nice and neat way for her to stumble on Rylia's stream :-).

Novus's Fanfiction Works

As much as it undoubtedly made him twitch...Bruce also did the whole playboy thing. So it would likely bother him less than most of those she could summon :-).

Danielle

Aaaaaa! That was so good, and I loved the perspectives from other people, they were a delight<3 Honestly I’m really hoping we get to see bat!Lucy at some point

Aeden Emrys

Thanks for another great update 😁! Some very nice developments and also good to see how others are doing and being influenced by our MC's actions, Like Miranda and Shepherd! Now with Bruce and Lucy here, I look forward to seeing how they will fit in and cause even more lovely ripples 😎! Our two newest summons also made me think about possibilities for other summons, like for the position of leading military forces and possibly the conquest of the Terminus Systems! A pair that first jumped out for me is Admirals Rick Hunter and Lisa Hayes-Hunter from Robotech! I think they would be a great pair too summon, as they have the necessary experience, morals, and knowledge! Thanks again for your great work 😁! I hope to be reading much more of this greatly interesting story of yours 😁!

Ya if night city didn't kill Bruce quick he would have broke it since it doesn't have the cursed protections of Gotham to hold him back

twilightwanderer

I'm very happy with the solution you came up with here. I voted Lucy since I thought she'd have the best chance of getting things working immediately and figured a more permanent solution could be determined later if needed, and this way covers both, plus I also love Bruce going full mentor/dad-mode. It also makes sense that the two closest to baseline humans would be more affordable individually than the highly experienced combat cyborg/hacker, the unchained AGI/ASI, or the versatile mutant, such that buying them together would largely stay in budget. It was great to see their initial perspectives, especially Bruce, and I can't wait to see them develop more. I also loved getting to see things from other points of view as well, especially Dalisir and the insight she gave on Asari culture. Great job, and I'm looking forward to what comes next month.

Keht Jelicho

Same, figured I couldn't be alone in that and came to the comments looking to see if someone else had already posted such.

Keht Jelicho

So.... can Summons at the end of their contracts choose to go back to Another Summon's world? Because Bruce going with Lucy back to Night City after the Reapers are dealt with (especially if Liara gets trained/the Shadow Broker Network is reformed enough that Bruce and Lucy can pass running it off to Liara), well that would certainly be a fic I'd be interested in reading. Particularly if they arrived back at the time Lucy left (or in a Parallel version of Cyberpunk to Lucy's, perhaps a Marketplace purchase could account for it/as part of letting Bruce go there?) Or go back in time to that point such that Bruce and Lucy are their to help with V's situation and the various aspects that happen in the 2077 gameplay? I wouldn't say that taking on Night City would necessarily be *easy* for the two after having run the Shadow Broker Network/faced the Reapers, but their experiences working together and the knowledge/abilities gained during their time in the Mass Effect verse would certainly give them a distinct set of advantages.

Keht Jelicho

Is it bad if I kind of want Miranda and Dalsir to become a Thing? Because I genuinely think a "Papa" Miranda to Dalsir's first kid would be a kind of cute thing to happen in the background over the next several years to a decade. "Big Sis Oriana" helping out with the young Asari would be cute too. Also, on a semi-related note, with Miranda having exposure to a Quarian and working with Medical/cybernetic R&D, is that a bit of foreshadowing of Miranda eventually working out some kind of medical implant to boost/replace Quarian Immune systems so they can lose their suits? (Will we get Suitless Tali?) Oh and with Miranda developing the MM-1 biotic implant, will she also look into a way for those with the L2 implants to be able to get those safely removed/replaced?

Keht Jelicho

Will Bruce/Rylia/any of the others get any Cyberpunk style implants or augmentations? I don't really see replacement limbs (unless they actually need one/lost one) especially the heavily militarized/combat options (Saren is supposedly specialized in investigating illegal cybernetics, which I already could see becoming an issue with regards to Lucy). Some of the medical/"healing" implants and/or some of the Bioware on the other hand might be something they would be willing to consider, as well as the muscle/bone lace and skin weaves/subdermal armor options possibly. (If some of these have already been implemented by Rylia please forgive me, I'm reading several other Cyberpunk and Cyberpunk adjacent fics so could have forgotten, the questions still apply to Bruce, as he's gotten the rejuvenation treatment but there are still further possible options I personally could see him accepting.) Also, some of those implants listed for Lucy definitely sound like ones the Systems Alliance might be interested in (N7 get some implants/genetic enhancements if I remember correctly already in canon don't they? They may include similar options but the birth control and hormone regulation stuff I could see them being interested in having for their N(1-7) operatives at the least even if not as something handed out to every standard Marine. Some of the other, tech focused/net runner, cyberware (even if Rylia/her company have to/choose to tone it down and release lesser or more basic options (both for economic reasons to allow to scale up over time and to comply with any/all legal restrictions on cybernetics) those might be useful for tech-operatives, and not just for the humans.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

To be honest, I hadn't considered it. I've sort of been picking people who were unlikely to go back on purpose, to limit that complication.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Eh...Miranda is only eighteen, so the age gap there is a little squicky. Dalsir is the equivalent of 30-35 in human years and Miranda barely eighteen. I wouldn't say its impossible for a solution to the Quarian immune systems to be worked on. On the other hand, Rylia doesn't have a very high opinion of the Migrant Fleet, so it probably wouldn't be her to initiate it. Perhaps once all the projects grow enough that she's no longer providing as much direct oversight. Yes, actually, on the L2 thing. Given just how ludicriously good Miranda is with cybernetics (see Lazarus project), a better option for treating L2s, allowing them to upgrade to the MM-1 or the L3, is 100% on the table. I can't guarantee it will happen, just because background bits like that sometimes struggle to get naturally included, but its actually in my notes as something to hopefully happen.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Of the current cast, the only one likely to get them (that doesn't already have them), is Momo. At least for a while. Currently, they aren't tuned for non-human use, so Rylia is out. With Asari mostly being adverse to modding like that, adjusting them for Asari use will be lower priority that adjusting them for Turians and others. Saren specializing in Cybernetics is something I created for Eridum Dreams to make sense of his assignment, rather than canon. I'm unsure if I'll reuse it for Stripper. Combat mods for the Systems Alliance will 100% be something offered to them in the future, but not until Rylia is more established. They'll start out offering mods for limb replacement and such, rather than things with obvious combat applications. They are trying NOT to trip too many flags until they are ready.

Keht Jelicho

No worries, its definitely not a concern for any time soon. The throw away line about what Bruce would do to Night City does sound like it could be a fun story, and even just the little bit regarding Bruce and Lucy here so far and the foreshadowing of the future for them (and the rest) is enough to make me curious (if they survive the galactic conflict) about the possibility of them going to Night City. They may easily come to build up enough ties to not choose to go back, but currently they do kind of feel like they'd be the types willing to go take on Night City's (and Cyberpunk-Earth as a whole) issues. Or maybe it would just be Lucy going back. I just am seeing a possible future of Lucy having been mentored by Bruce and having gained the experience of running the Shadow Broker Network with him, and taking on some of his morals and sense of responsibility, becoming the type of person who cannot just leave her home city (and to a degree the whole world) and its citizens to languish under the mega corporations and gangs. Surviving and aiding with saving a whole Galaxy seems like it would be more than enough experience to serve as a basis for coming up with plans to reform Night City after all.

Keht Jelicho

Oh the Miranda/Dalsir thing was something I was thinking wouldn't progress for at least 5+ years further, possibly closer to ten. A 23-28 year old Miranda by that time would be more closer to a Dalsir who's equivalent age would have only advanced by maybe another year even after a full decade (for an equivalent age of 31-36 by your numbers). Thats a much less squicky age gap, and a much more mature Miranda. Plus the possibility of Dalsir solely asking Miranda to be a donor "father" at that point if their interpersonal relationship has progressed to that point without any romantic relationship having become established (at least it is my understanding of Asari culture that not every Asari has a child from an actual relationship with the "father"/that some Matrons upon deciding to have a child just approach the individual they desire to be the other parent. Further added to by the aspect that I think reproduction is more an aspect of a Meld than actual sexual acts). And the quarian cure was specifically mentioned in regards to Miranda coming up with it, not Rylia, because I thought I remembered something about Rylia not wanting to work with the Fleet as a whole. Besides that, I expect whatever is needed would be expensive/too limited/niche (because dextro-based immune support, particularly if part/all of the solution is bioware, would only really be useful for quarians), and possibly too customized/individualized to even actually be something that could just be handed over in the first place. But coming up with how to safely de-suit quarians on an individual basis, for specific people (possibly in exchange for an indenture contracts, as by "too expensive" I am seeing as significantly higher than a personal shuttle even if not quite as much as a small ship- the Migrant fleet would definitely be against their people "selfishly" choosing to get the de-suit treatment instead of bringing back a new ship for the fleet, a ship which could support multiple people compare to a procedure that only benefits the individual quarian). Though, starting to slowly create a secondary faction of Quarians, all de-suited, that are not loyal to the Migrant fleet? That I could see Rylia possibly being interested in, or at the least giving the approval for MM to offer the procedure/implants to individual quarians as a possible end payment for an indenture contract and just not caring what the fleet admirals have to say about it. But yeah, all that isn't important to the story as far as you have shown so far, and I can see that it is not necessarily something you could include easily without disrupting the story flow to do so. And just dropping in something about the Quarrian Nanny being desuited without any explanation wouldn't really work either. (Though, if it happened/was developed in stages... drop from full environmental isolation suits to just respiratory/rebreather masks and periodic injections/boosters. Something that requires frequent and regular maintenance/specialized medical support and that thus couldn't be provided on the Fleet? At least in the early stages of whatever approach could be developed?)

Keht Jelicho

I thought there was actual dialog in ME about all of Saren's cybernetics (which is what I thought you were referencing in Eridium Dreams). If I am remembering that incorrectly I wouldn't be surprised (I only fully beat the game once, and its been years since I last played through ME1 at all), though if so, you certainly aren't the only one who has had Saren having a specialization with cybernetics and/or tech as I am almost positive I have read something similar/adjacent to that in other fics (and, again, that part of why I thought your Eridium Dreams bit about him was referencing canon). Would the birth control/hormone regulation stuff be included in/count as combat mods? I can certainly see the benefit for their female operatives/combatants having them, but they aren't really directly combat applicable, and those were the primary/first ones I was thinking of as being offered. Especially if you have Asari biology already naturally have something similar and Rylia "developing" them because "Momo/'my human girlfriend' had cramps/period and complained so I came up with a way to help her"/its another of those "Asari don't think about it/take it for granted, but here Humanity, I came up with this for you" deals. Heck if Rylia released the plans for the Hormone/birth control implants for free (or at cost/at a minimal licensing fee for human manufacturers to use) then she could probably turn those into another source of Karma. Pretty sure solving the issue of Cramps and etc period issues for human women would get her a Lot of Karma over all. And I would have thought that Asari would be able to get stuff like the Bone Lace and possibly some type of skin weave/subdermal armor at the least, muscle lace possibly more complicated if the muscle structure/fibers are different enough, and skin/subdermal stuff on the head tendrils probably wouldn't work, but something to protect the torso and/or limbs doesn't seem like there would be that much difference between humans and Asari. Any cyberware that has any connection to the nervous system would be right out as far as Asari, that I can understand, and even most of the internal cyberware/organs and probably all the bioware ... unless the cyberpunk cloning tech could be iterated/adapted by the R&D department and used just for growing replacement organs as a start towards it. One for one replacements are about the most I could see without a lot of genetics research and reverse engineering for the different physiology. That said, another medical issue (and again related to immune systems in a way) is the Drell getting Kepral's Syndrome. Long-term exposure to humid environments causing a fatal and incurable respiratory disease? If nothing else, could cloned/replacement lungs be a treatment even if not truly a cure/preventative method? Maiden's Mercy getting a reputation for tackling medical issues from new angles/coming up with cures/treatments for things without such seems to be a bit of their MO so far with the nerve disease and such. Using the "Lucy is a test subject from a group doing illegal cybernetic reasearch/brings a data cache/has been feeding us bits of the research" as an excuse and Rylia just giving an annotated list of comments/questions about other possible uses for for the different tech (like a question on cloning technology and if it can be adapted to non-human species and what kinds of diseases/conditions having cloned organs could help alleviate, and then leaving Miranda to do the research/see if she comes up with using the tech to come up with treatment for cancer, combat/accident damage, diseases, etc). Also in the future.. Cyberpunk bone lace or total skeleton replacement: sturdy Joker please and thank you?
