Episode 10 Update - 2/12/20 (Patreon)
Content
Hello again friends,
The past few months have been tremendous for me. Before I start this post, I just want to give a heads up that sometime in March, I'll be switching the Patreon to monthly rather than per episode. When I started this Patreon, I didn't think the episodes would get this long, huge in scope, and take the amount of resources I'm now having to put into it. If you are currently a $5+ Patron, make sure you've already put your name/selection in this form and you will be credited accordingly. If you cannot afford to make a monthly pledge, I strongly encourage you to lower your pledge amount. If, at any time, you need to un-pledge, as long as you've pledged in the $5+ tier at least once during this episode's production, you'll still get your name in the credits.
As I previously stated, I'd been planning to move so that I could pursue working on this episode full-time. I really thought I'd be able to go into full-production mode in January right after moving. In reality, I spend all of January hunting for a place to live, securing the place, moving out, and then moving in. It wasn't until February that I started actual production. I just got internet....today. Just now. Which is why I'm posting this. If things go as planned, I will be giving weekly updates from here on out.
I'm currently in the process of making the character rigs for all the characters of this episode. There are a LOT of new ones. There are EIGHT main characters and FOUR side characters that need work. This past week and a half, I have finished five of the eight main character rigs, some needing more work than others. The main goal of the upcoming week will be getting the last three main characters finished. One in particular is very complex. After that, I will have to decide between working on the side characters or fleshing out the sets. So far, working in Blender has been far faster and easier now that I have all of my experience from Episode 9. I'm glad to have established the workflow.
I have spent the last few months mulling over the script, writing it over and over. I currently attend writing groups twice a week and attend local writing seminars whenever I can. At this point, I know where all the main characters are going to be, and the order of events, but I'm still struggling to get the dialogue just right in order to piece together the story I'm trying to tell. So much of it keeps getting re-written, although the gist of it stays the same. At this point, I can confidently model the sets and main characters, though the side characters keep getting changed out, so I'm holding off on that. It's really frustrating to be going forward on all of this without a finished script, but I'm just not satisfied with it yet, and I'm not going to lock it down until it feels solid.
This episode will be very different from the others. I'll soon be coming to a point where showing what I've been working on may include major spoilers of certain plot points. I will try my best to reveal as little as possible about the plot, while still teasing what is being worked on to make these updates worthwhile. Let me know if you really want me to avoid spoilers, or, if you'd like to be privy to what the episode entails, and don't mind seeing potential WIP stuff so you can make guesses about what's going to happen.
I have a long road ahead of me here, and I thank you all for sticking around. In the meantime, please let me know if there's anything I can do for you and feel free to ask any questions.
Thank you so much,
Shippiddge
