My partner worked on this movie as an assistant to Jon Avnet! I hadn’t heard of it before he told me about it but he tells me some great stories about production. His favorite stories are that Glenn Close bought Krispy Kreme for the entire cast and crew on her one shooting day, back when Krispy Kreme was supposedly brand new in LA. He’s blurry in the background in the bar scene with Holly Hunter and her coworker, and he said she never needed a second take for any of her scenes. Also that Cameron Diaz was the friendliest actress he’d ever worked with! Thanks for doing this movie, Chris & Joe! Great ep!

MJ

Also for what it’s worth, Chris, you’d probably love Regina King and Carrie Coon’s performances in the 2nd and 3rd seasons of The Leftovers. Talk about a full meal.

PJ Gaughan

I know this is nothing but listening to the Demi pod ad I was thinking "Very Demi, Very Moore-ful"

PJ Gaughan

Not to um actually you Paul Rudd is technically in Forgetting Sarah Marshall but he's such a minor character that you might forget he's in it (Also FSM and Superbad are the two Apatow movies that hold up because of their underlying heart)

10 Things I Can Tell Just By Looking In Denver When He’s Just Not That Into You When You’re Expecting.

I love Return to Me! Minnie Driver actually has David Duchovny's dead wife's heart in it, plus there is a group of charming old men featuring Caroll O'Connor, Robert Loggia and Eddie Jones.

Keegon

The one thing I’d like to get loud about is that Nine Lives is SUCH a fun little collection of vignettes and Robin Wright is legitimately Oscar worthy in her section.

I love Joe going through so much of the Ally McBeal lore. And unless I'm mixing up episodes I'm pretty sure she fucked the carwash attendant and then he sued for sexual harassment. Recently rewatched the series and there's an episode where the guy she's dating tells her he's bi and she has to decide if this is worth leaving him because she doesn't like the idea of wondering if he's checking out men. (She does)

Chauncey Telese

Joe not getting Sarah Marshall right away frustrated the fuck out of me lol

Things You Can Tell Just By Looking at H.E.R is one of the greatest things this podcast has ever done and you guys should add this game to the roster for the next Game Night

Enrique Gomez

Things you can tell just by Babadooking her may be the most unwell thing ever said on this show 🤣😂

David Kirk

Forgot the terrible way the press treated Calista Flockhart. Ally McBeal is one of the US series that really hit in Britain. In my sixth form we were all watching it.

Zac Wolf

Appreciated the QAF sidebar! I was a kid when it originally aired but found it when I was 17/18 (2011/2012) and secretly watched it late night on my laptop. As discussed, it’s an early 2000s production™️ with all that entails. But it will always hold a special place in my heart for my baby queer self.

I love 'films that exist as names only'. Some faves: The Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out a Window, Sex Lives of the Potato Men, Only Cowgirls Get the Blues, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Big Girls Don’t Cry….They Get Even, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints

Bobby Scanlon Jr.

Low key patron of this podcast on principle and performance is one Ms. Glenn Close. From her homoerotic turn 'The House of the Spirits' (ep. 135). to her screen chewing work in Mary Reilly (ep. 217) to her impressive 0-8 run at the Oscars, she's a dynamo. To all those Closers at home counting along, this was Glenn Close's fifth film discussed. Next time will call for a most chaotic and glorious 6 Timer's Club Game.

hijacking this post to say thank u guys for the recent ep where u did Poitier for the imdb game bc that just saved my ass in todays cinematrix

Stephanie Radcliffe

The Garys will appreciate this one. Dog show at our local fair has an Oscar-themed musical chairs type competition. The name of the dog who loves participating but never, ever wins? Glenn Close.

Ivo Xavier

This one was an all timer! Hilarious game! Well done boys!

I knew - well, I was pretty sure - that it was Sean Patrick Flanery in SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE because "How Did This Get Made?" covered it yeeeears ago. Never seen the film, but....The things my brain decides it must keep.
