Thank you for coming out against front-facing-camera comedy, our lowest form of media.

Lance Hunter

Let me just say: If any Garys reading this are wondering if it's worth it to join the "Certified Sugar Daddy Gary" tier - I can now say from personal experience that it's worth every penny. (Also, just picture yourself as Patrick Stewart's Sterling and the personification of THOB as Bryan Batt's Darius in full Cats regalia.) Oh yeah, and one other thing I thought of after listening to the episode in regards to the difference between gay movies of this era and the stuff that comes out today: Jeffrey gets freakin' gay-bashed and it's just treated as a shitty fact-of-life kind of thing.

Listening to the Wings discourse reminded me that Tim Daly ALSO played a gay man in one of the adjacent white-gay man movies “The Object of My Affection”

Sam Hetherington

This movie very much sounds like something I would have watched on early youtube in 10 parts as a semi-closeted teenager

I had to go look at James Earl Jones' "Known For" during the game on Broderick's, and...it's close to being right what it should be and yet SO off.

Cecil Spencer

Love anytime there's a shout out of Edge of Seventeen on the podcast. Perfect version of good, not great, 90s gay cinema. Also was the first time I heard Bronski Beat before EVERY streaming show played them in the last 6 years.

Mark Grinolds

Sigourney is very much playing Marianne Williamson. I think that was pretty much confirmed in the press about this movie at the time. Thank you Lance for this great episode!

I still think about Patrick Stewart's "Oh, me too" in relation to being bisexual at least once a month. If people haven't seen it, he basically plays a version of this same character in the episode "The Doctor Is Out" in season 11 of Frasier. Absolutely one of the best episodes of the show and with checking out.

The Patrick Stewart monologue about the policing of gay behavior is one of my top screen speeches!

First of all, thank you, Lance. Second of all, once again, your reminiscing about watching this genre of gay movie (The TLA Releasing Special, I think you could call it), specifically at 1:00 AM on HBO or whatever is DEEPLY sense-memory inducing to me. Third, and I'm NOT going to get deep into the Who Can Play Gay debate "discourse", but only to say, there are straight actors I think as a community we trust to play gay: Patrick Stewart, Stanley Tucci. And there are actors we do NOT trust: Jared Leto, for instance. Fourth, I am NOT surprised to hear Steven Webber wasn't very pleasant on Celebrity Jeopardy! as he VERY much seems like that kind of actor. I've never cared for him for that reason.

Think maybe Joe isn’t a fan of cats because he secretly is one (watching the marble videos is a dead giveaway).

“And ‘Skyscraper’ is the one with the skyscraper, what is your point?” Thanks for making me snort my Tangerine Ginger Topo Chico up my nose, Joe! 😂

Elizabeth Musser

This is wonderful. I had seen Long Time Companion, which is quite dour. This is so fun and sweet.
