Co-opting this space to say how much I loved you both on the bookstores and libraries ScreenDrafts episode. Great list and episode from everybody, but I especially loved every word you both said about You’ve Got Mail, and especially Meg Ryan’s performance in it.

First of all, Joe, you MUST see Evil Under the Sun! It's honestly A Bunch of Character Actors Drunk on Vacation: THE MOVIE! (No, really, a lot of them did the movie because it was filming on the Adriatic and just had a good time.) It's also soooooo gay. You have Roddy McDowall queening it up, Diana Rigg and Maggie Smith being bitches to each other, Sylvia Miles of all people just being there, and the frankest gay gaze shooting of a male gigolo you've ever seen. (If you can't tell, the director was gay.) It's a delight! Second, I think Ian McKellan's impressions of Maggie Smith, loving and cutting at the same time, are one of my favorite things. I think my favorite thing about Maggie Smith, though, is that at a certain point in her career, she just stopped showing up to awards things. I can just picture her saying, "Oh, this again? I'm staying home!"
