Thoughts on the ep? Thoughts on French Exit? And also, where do the Garys stand on His Three Daughters?

18:20 When Chris mentioned the great Carrie Preston, I was a lil bummed he didn’t do his spot on Best Friend’s Wedding impression by saying the line “She’s Whitney Houston’s aunt!”

Hi, regretful drafter of JUROR #2 here - listen, I didn't know WB was giving it the shaft and Clint's semi-crashed the party late in the game before, it seemed to make sene! But THAT won't help me much! Anyway, I've seen CONCLAVE now and THAT I'm glad I have on my team (even if I'm not suuuuper confident that my score will be boosted by an Oscar nom for Isabella Rossellini).

While they are markedly different in screen presences and, to an extent, acting styles, the classical Hollywood actress who I often think of as a counterpart to Michelle Pfeiffer is Jean Arthur– two extraordinarily gifted actresses and fiercely private movie stars, hence why they both were/are undervalued in the industry but deeply beloved by their fans. Greta Garbo also comes to mind, seeing as her guardedness was entrenched into her screen persona in a similar way to Pfeiffer's.

HUGE agree on your Emerald Fennell take - I defend both of her movies, and I think a lot of people are more angry about how her movies are marketed than their actual content. Not to say people can't have issues with the movie itself, but I think Promising Young Woman would've had a lot less vitriol if the trailers didn't advertise it as a so much of a girlboss revenge movie.

Northern Exposure is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Check it out!

Demanding the inclusion of Ophelia Lovibond in the next edition of the game!

Loved the episode and also love the 40 Year Old Version! I doubt this is the song you were thinking about, but I still think about her “White man with a black woman’s butt” song/rap.

Louis Virtel! Yes please! I have longed for a guest appearance from him. Pick the most obscure '40s or '50s film and let him cook! There must be a Douglas Sirk melodrama that didn't get any nominations, surely?

Not sure yet but I will really need you guys over the next 4 years. So glad you're here.

I enjoyed this movie. My main takeaway is that some people would rather kill themselves than get a job.

Loved this episode! Though every time I hear you pitch for Pfeiffer in the 93 Oscar line-up for Age of Innocence (it happened when you did it for 100 Years 100 Snubs too), I go into a Kathy-Bates-Misery-this-isn’t-what-happened-last-week style internal rant about how, yes, absolutely Winger is who you kick out (she’s great but the other 4 nominees are unimpeachable) but Binoche in Three Colours Blue is absolutely who you replace her with… not Pfeiffer. Good as she is…

Just heard a shout out to my team in the Vulture Movie Fantasy League (Monstro THOBlisaSue)! It's wild that I'm at the top of the Garyators league, but basking in my moment in the spotlight! Lol. Thanks peeps!

I loved the beginning 7/8 of this movie, but felt so deflated at the end. Michelle’s character walking away down the empty Paris street reminded me of Margot Robbie’s character at the end of Babylon. But she was so much younger, truly a light that burned bright and fast. I mean it was all set up, Michelle’s character was giving all of her money away pretty quickly. But I wanted something more.
