This is a Golden Globe, it's sacred!!... Or something like that... Anyway, this month's excursion is another recap of an awards show, and this time we are rewatching the Golden Globes ceremony celebrating 2003 in film and television! Topics include a hypothetical world where Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King wasn't the known frontrunner, Angels in America sweeping the television categories, and Michael Douglas receiving the Cecil B. DeMille tribute.

I am also in favor of no host for the Globes; the show really doesn't need one since it's so loose. Ricky Gervais ruined this for all of us. And I love that you guys have completely forgotten about Jo Koy. As it should be!

Sorry sorry but Damn! I’ve never heard anyone dismiss bad Santa in the past twenty years ! I’ve never seen it but still

Spot-on re: The Office. I went to the IMDB page the next day and read some of the quotes, knowing nothing about the show. That afternoon, I went to a Circuit City (RIP) near my college campus and bought the Series 1 DVD. Great purchase!

Joe is 💯 correct about the cohesion of clip presenters. It's the 'everything matches or nothing matches' rule -- anything in between looks tacky.

In case anyone is curious…I’m at a sports bar watching the Tyson/Paul fight (Meryl would be furious) and the trailer for Back in Action played. The entire bar got silent and when the name card for Cameron Diaz came on screen the entire bar erupted in cheers and applause. Our girl is back.

"Right on" to the idea that you gotta theme your presenters for the various Best Picture nominees (and I always think it's boring when it's just...someone from that movie's cast). Re: hosts, it's funny that comics seem to be more willing to do the Globes than the Oscars - even though I get it, the Oscars are way more scrutinize and being the host of that show IS such a no-win scenario of a gig - because I find that it just...matters less with the Globes? One of the reasons I want a host at the Oscars is that that's a fine part of the whole pomp & circumstance of it, pomp & circumstance that isn't reeeeally why people who watch the Globes watch the Globes. But why have I watched the Globes when I'VE watched the Globes over the last 15 years? Because Fey & Poehler were hosting.

My brain is so broken that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Little Shop of Horrors and Rock the Casbah were the first Murray movies that came to mind. Great episode!

Robert Anton

I’m sure I’m not the first person to say this but I’d listen to a whole episode on alternate reality Oscar speculation.

Cursed election day talk!

Chrissy

Is the unwell cover of OutKast’s “Hey Ya!” to open the show covered? I just looked it up on YouTube and howled

Charles

If you just heard the faint sound of someone yelling “Space Jam!” over and over until Chris finally played it, that was me.

Ruan Felipe

This episode got me thinking who should present the BP nominees on the Oscars and why is Jennifer Lopez presenting for Conclave the most insane and incredible possiblity (the Maid in Manhattan Fiennes-Tucci connection!)

Sarah Lang

Joey Bibianni! I love you both so much.

Harriet Ware

Perfect A Chorus Line answers!

Chris getting hungry at the 54 minute mark after just discussing Barbra Streisand is giving when she was on “The Actor’s Studio” and remarked how hungry the interview was making her. Minutes later a frantic PA brings out a tray of KitKats and Oreos.

Never in a thousand guesses would you guess which movie they accidentally credit Sean Penn with winning for on this YouTube clip of his win, received by Clint Eastwood . . . http://bit.ly/4ftsQ6o

What THOB film deserves the tagline: “A portrait of disease, compassion & the dark side of the American dream”? Wrong answers only.

@ chris your Mary Kay Place famous spouse confusion may have been that Mary Beth Hurt is married to Paul Schrader! I always have to pause and remember which three-named Mary it is.

Kelsey

One of the most thrilling games at the end, I was on the edge of my seat!

Chauncey Telese

I'd take offense at the bad Santa shots but when it comes to comedies we are always on vastly different wavelengths. Fun episode though. Love how in depth these recaps go. Nothing else like it.

Chauncey Telese

Also my God the Murray game frustrated me lol.

Brianne Archer

Calling out the Ryan O’Neal erasure from the Miss Match cast. Somewhere I still have a bootleg DVD and I think it has unaired episodes

Molly Fromkin

Team Let Tom & Demi Present Best Picture

Emily

I think that was daughter Stella with Antonio & Melanie. Bill Murray had the best speech - so funny!

German Munoz

What a fun, joyous time capsule. Loved hearing all the details and musings. And LOVED the Tyra Banks digs, lol.
