Everyone say "thank you, Meredith"!! Are there any vague movie titles that drive any of you Garys mad? (Also go see Small Things Like These -- good movie, vague title aside.)

Whenever Kate Mara comes up, I remember she randomly sat next to me at the Times Square AMC when I saw Selma and she cried and clapped the whole time. Seemed like a nice (and tiny) lady

Jennifer Hill

I wish I'd have heard this podcast before I agreed to go see Red One with my sister...

Jenny Maurer

Robert f kennedy sr was clearly the best and more progressive kennedy cos he seemed very willing to learn

J Kyle Wilsor

“She lives in Rooney’s birdlike shadow” 😂😂

Braden Poapst

Not the point of this episode but just need to ring the Frances Fisher alarm because she’s publicly posting about/getting behind Winslet in Lee

Seth

my go to “why doesn’t X host the Oscars” pick is Octavia Spencer, who is well-liked by both the public and the Academy and can do both heartfelt or funny pretty well.

Mera Hitchman

For the record, my Kate Mara-stan-ing started with Everwood and Jack & Bobby. I’m ground level, y’all. (Thank you for the best episode ever, it was a dream come true to THOB with you.)

Charles

Joe, I’m probably the millionth person to recommend these books to you but the Caro LBJ books are just about exactly the story you wanted told about Ted Kennedy but of course about LBJ.

Another ep. recorded pre-election results, beginning (ish) with some talk about how much the Tr*** era has shown us that nothing matters... ... Ooh boy...

John Ananias

Ooh, Joe Reid with the stealth-SATURDAY-NIGHT-sequel pitch! (Also, SATURDAY NIGHT: LAWLESS not the worst title I've ever heard.)

Jessy Wheeler

My mother swears that one time when we were driving in Hyannis near the Kennedy compound that Rose Kennedy walked out into the road and yelled at us to go away, I was only like two or three years old at the time so I do not remember this. Cool if true though.

Gosia

Thank you Meredith!

It’ll take a few years, but if THELMA doesn’t go the distance that would be a fun Clark Gregg sixth-timer ep!

ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE - George Lazenby's only Bond, by the way, though they'd almost done it with Connery - was basically the agreed-upon Most Underrated Bond Film for a long time, then seemingly the agreed-upon BEST Bond Film...which is just to say it's one that can be appreciate by people who aren't necessarily *James Bond people*. Diana Rigg is magnificent in it, playing a character with much more to her than "Bond Girls" of that day.

Wondering where Joe stands on All We Imagine as Light as a title. Not sure how it’ll be worked into the movie but it sounds pretty!

Frank McCormick

60-Second Plot Description at 55 minutes into the ep? Definitely perhaps the latest in This Had Oscar Buzz History! Back when he occasionally had thoughts I was interested in listening to, Bill Maher used to like to describe people who became conservatives as "I'm a Republican, so now I am OUTRAGED about Chappaquiddick." Because they didn't give a shit about justice for Mary Jo Kopechne, they just wanted some a missile to lob at Ted Kennedy when he was trying to do liberal stuff.

Elliott Sainsbury

The scream I let out when Chris compared RFK JR to the remains of Monstro Elisasue in a suit

Carrie Williams

The modern Oscar host we need if we want musical numbers with jokes is Rachel Bloom.

Rachael Sevilla

No mention of changing "Dancing about Architecture" to "Playing by Heart?" Its always my reference point for retitling to something as vague as possible

Elizabeth Musser

You guys didn’t talk about the movie all that much on this pod, which … fair. But I was interested in the interpretation that Ted was in a depressive state for these events. Not as Kennedy apologia, just as a human.

Chauncey Telese

For me my Jason Clarke stock was purchased in bulk because of The Chicago Code.

Joe, I totally get the Kennedy thing. I grew up on Cape Cod, and both my parents are Roman Catholic Italians from Boston. My grandmother tried to name my uncle after JFK but “Fitzgerald” doesn’t go well with Boschetto. It was weird to leave MA and New England and find out that not everyone grew up revering the Kennedy’s and that actually a lot of people had a very negative opinion of them. I didn’t even learn what the Chappaquidick incident was until I moved away 🫣

I'm excited for Conan to host the Oscars because I think the host issue of the past few years has been less a late night talk show host issue but more of a Jimmy Kimmel issue. I like Kimmel but I've never gotten the vibe that he likes movies or really watches movies. Before they announced Conan I was thinking that Colbert could be a good host becauae he does seem to like and apreciate movies

As the child of an Irish Catholic Buffalo native (Kenmore!), Joe’s Kennedy report hit me hard. I also wonder if my mom knew Joe’s grandparents!!

Voyager

The guys mentioned me by my Garyator name. I can die happy now.

Dying to say that Ed Helms’ brother was my Geography teacher and told me this was by far his pick for Ed’s best performance
