As an ivy league lit major leftist academic... this book lives in its posterior (like a lot of people i went to school with) and I hate it.

Braden Poapst

I lived in LA for a few months (hated it) and seeing movies there, while fine, could be very exhausting. Have experienced some of the worst audiences there, the only truly transcendent experience was seeing The Substance behind an older woman who was LIVING for the ending.

Boomer reporting. DeLillo isn’t only GenX! All the people reading Pynchon in college in the 70s went on to read DeLillo in the 80s. Dread and anxiety pervading your life that you can do nothing about. DeLillo is great. Read Libra! Anyone who has lived a lot of years in the US knows capitalism doesn’t work. That doesn’t make us socialist, just fucked. Surely you two agree!!

College on the hill in Ohio could also be Ohio University-Chillicothe.

Millenial here, WHITE NOISE is one of my favourite books of all time! The book is better than the movie, but I think it’s a good adaptation worthy of Best Adapted Screenplay.

Carrie Williams

“Chris, I’m making a point” is my new go-to retort.

Jenny Maurer

I read white noise eqrly this year for the 40th anniversary but I think I prefer libra as a novel

Clint

fun fact: i sat directly in front of baumbach at the 2018 nyff premiere of her smell 👀🎞️

Clint

surprised y’all didn’t mention the baumbach and wes anderson connection, as both fantastic mr. fox and white noise end with a grocery store dance number… also, i know asteroid city will get its own eventual episode, but imo there’s something between white noise, asteroid city, and even barbie…fear of death, existential dread, etc

Clint

the good shepherd is such a great example of “year ahead buzz”…de niro directing, starring matt damon and angelina jolie? perfect on paper…

Robin Hitchcock

Eternally grateful to you both as this episode got me through the harrowing last leg of a long rainy drive through Ohio

Churesa Teruck Schulbron

The way I have been waiting years for this episode and also screaming at you both to remember While We’re Young during your rankings!

Jeff Brax

Love the show. It’s time to add directors to the IMDB game

Michelle Brosius

I completely blocked out this movie from my mind... Although I must say that I quite like Greta Gerwig in this.

J Kyle Wilsor

Excellent work - once again and as always - on another wonderful May Miniseries! We will not accept any more words diminishing this year in comparison to others! It stands strong among the throng!

"New Body Rhumba" absolutely deserved to be an Oscar nominee. You lost me a bit with the criticism of "Naatu Naatu" as that song is a legitimate banger.

Jamesconrad

Joe Reid, I will totally buy you a ticket to a broadway show! You complained a lot about New York and ticket prices. (You might have to go with me? I'm actually not creepy, I'm all gay married--besides, Chris is much more my type.) (bring Chris?) What do you think about Chess this fall?

Ruan Felipe

A thing that I don't see anyone saying is how Barbie and White Noise are a two piece about basically the same thing. I don't think it's a coincidence that they were written basically at the same time
