I went to cineplex odeon in Manhattan as a kid, they were everywhere

The Elaine misquote reminds me of how the Michael Jordan meme being 'and I took that personally' when he actually said 'it became personal for me' because Keegan Michael Key parodied it on SNL and said the version people use

Shirley MacLaine joining the esteemed ranks of Julia Roberts, Keira Knightley, and Anthony Hopkins of missed six timers quizzes (also now I’m imagining a movie starring those four together)

Frank McCormick

I'd heard the name "Madame Sousatzka," but thought she was a real person, not a movie/character. It's a name that sounds like a 19th century spiritualist with some very racist views about Tibet.

I both am and am not a Gary who falls into the "I have never heard of this" category, because I knew OF it but only from the Golden Globe oddity, didn't really know anything *about* it.

“Ziggy - what’s your favorite 70s era low tier comic strip”?”

Twiggy I only really know from playing the lady Elwood winds up standing up in THE BLUES BROTHERS. Anyway, "Jiggy: Do You Ever Get Wit It?" was terrible and wonderful and won the episode.

The Carol Dweck shout out in the 60 second plot description was delightful. We love a growth mindset 💪

“Squiggy - Who’s your favorite comedic duo?”

First, loved the episode! Second, I know there is often talk about how honorary Oscars are not the same as competitive Oscars, but Joe was in fact the first person I thought of when I saw that Debbie Allen was one of the honorary award recipients this year.

Joe, Chris, and Taylor should totally do an “Oscar nominated best original Score” draft on screen drafts! Love it when they talk music.

I randomly went down a Twiggy rabbit hole just last week (!) after realising she'd been made a Dame. There's a real 'six degrees of Twiggy' game to be had, given she was on the Bowie Pin-Ups album cover, had an album co-produced (?) by Donna Summer (?), did ANTM, modelled for Marks & Spencer for ages which for some reason in the UK was a huge thing, and presented a range of mediocre TV shows (I remember "Twiggy's Swap Shop" coat-tailing the 'clothes swap' trend). She also popped up on Ab Fab now and again. Weirdly there's now a Twiggy musical about to tour the UK! Truly, a Forrest Gump of a career.

Also everyone really needs to look up 2001's These Old Broads! Definitely not an Oscar Buzz movie, but it's a not-great hagsploitation flick with Shirley, Liz Taylor (in her final role), Debbie Reynolds and Joan Collins written by Carrie Fisher. Oh, the indignity of everyone involved. From what I remember, Liz doesn't (can't?) stand up and is at her most 'Golden Globes Gladiator' Liz. The clip of her and Debbie facing off has to be seen to be believed.

Joe's "tick tock" about James Hong made me spit wine when I laughed.

After listening to this episode, I must share my latest children's book purchase - I highly recommend it for any children in your life: https://www.amazon.com/Gorillas-Our-Midst-Richard-Fairgray/dp/1632206072/ref=asc_df_1632206072?mcid=c06973eaff58346096aa8bfe814a1e3c&hvocijid=43086359914851666-1632206072-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=721245378154&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=43086359914851666&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9192384&hvtargid=pla-2281435177378&psc=1

My Grandma was my movie buddy growing up and a huge fan of both Shirley McClaine & Merchant Ivory, so I'm shocked that I've never even heard of this movie! I have seen "Guarding Tess" more times than I can count though.

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Taylor is 2/2 as an outstanding guest, bring him back soon!
