Hello! It’s the first post of September!

As you might already know, I’ve been practicing drawing fruits recently. Gooseberries, currants, blueberries, you name it! The theme of this month is berries, so yeah! (rewards will be ready in a few days!)

Let’s start with some sketches I made recently.

Well, these carrot sketches are for client work! I’m working on a super fun commission and might tell you more about it soon!

(I definitely need a sketchbook with thicker paper, lol)

Warm up and practice sketches. There’s never too many of them!

Sketching is always fun but what about coloring?! I find round objects quite challenging to color. I can color leaves and flowers all day long but berries?

Well, I need more practice in that and that’s exactly why I made this mini spread in my sketchbook.

Full double-pages spreads are my absolute favorite but sometimes I like to make more loose spreads like this. I call these “practice spreads” cause I get to practice composition and coloring, while not having that much pressure to make it look nice! (and if it ends up looking nice, that’s a bonus hehe)

In this case I started from the left page and you can probably tell that the right side of the spread is more rendered than the left. It just looks better in general. I felt much more confident drawing these fruits on the right page. That’s the magic of practice, I guess!

Now it's time for sketch vs final illustration comparison!

Can you spot the difference?! Heheh :D I love seeing such side by side comparisons and hope you do too!

Have a beautiful day!

Hahah! One minute you’re not much into drawing food and the next you find yourself drawing fruits and vegetables :D I’m glad you like this sketch vs final comparison!
