Have you seen the Yuri Bezmenov lectures from 1984? What do you think? Here's a helpful link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gnpCqsXE8g I recommend listening sped up as it's very long but slow paced. It has the alt-right riled up about how it justifies everything they think about the Left and that the Left is just a Soviet destabilization tactic of the KGB that is now starting to bear fruit. I think there's definitely more nuance here than that.... but man if it doesn't shake me.

I have a theory I'd like to ask your opinion on. For years now, Bill Maher has been talking about Trump not leaving if he loses. Bill Maher has made a point of asking democrats on his show about what the plan was if Trump refuses to leave. Prior to the pandemic, no one had had a satisfactory answer, and most brushed the question aside as a practical impossibility. Since the pandemic, I just haven't been able to stand Bill Maher, so I don't know how much he's been pursuing this. I think Bill Maher's perseverating on the question has highlighted that democrats aren't prepared for such a possibility, and, until recently, haven't taken it seriously. My conclusion is that Bill Maher has created his own nightmare scenario. In short, he should bear a lot of the responsibility for all the Trump Administration does in furtherance of delegitimizing the election. Your thoughts?

How are you managing your emotions around the presidential election, specifically more around Biden/the Democratic party? I’ve heard you express frustrations with both of them & I personally have a hard time thinking about November without getting incredibly angry about what the Democrats are offering and feeling like I need to vote for Biden anyways. Obviously a Trump win is the worst option and I am worried that the (often rightful) antipathy towards Biden might lead to it but the way the Democratic party has gathered around this idea of moderate bi-partisanship & ’back to normal’ makes me worried that a Biden presidency won’t really make things /better/ just stop them from getting immediately catastrophically worse & the nightmare spiral of American politics will continue along the same path that lead us here. I’m wondering if you have any strategies for combating any of those negative feelings or at least tips on how to argue against myself on the idea I’m stuck with that electoral politics is already dead and throwing bricks is our only option now.

I know I'm replying late, BUT maybe I'll make it in time...Just like the USPS the Census is being actively sabotaged and that is not getting nearly the attention it deserves. I am going door to door as an enumerator for the Census and noticing a MASSIVE amount of non-responses. Can you PLEASE put out a call to people to respond to the Census (it takes 5-10 minutes, it can be done online) and remind everyone, hundreds of billions in funding, House representation, gerrymandering, important statistics, etc. are all affected by the Census and thus it needs to be accurate!(?)
