As we are nearly halfway through the year, here are some new records I've enjoyed, with links to them on Spotify. I'm still going through a few things that make it harder than usual to keep finding new music and give it proper attention, but I've still heard some great sounds this year so far. Here are ten of them, in no particular order:

NORM - Andy ShaufDEAD MEAT - The TubsFURLING - Meg BairdTHERAPY - Brendan EderWOW - Kate NVHOLY RED WAGON - Bruiser & BicycleSUNDOWN - Eddie ChaconINFINITE SPRING - SupervioletROMANTIC PIANO - Gia MargaretWALK AROUND THE MOON - Dave Matthews Band

That's right, old Johnny went full DMB on you right at the end, blew your minds. That's a wagon I got off in about 1998, but for some reason (a review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine - ever reliable) I was drawn in and got a lot of pleasure from the new one.

I had many more to pick from but I'll save them for another day. Never too sure people like these music posts but if you do, let me know and I'll try to do more on what I've been listening to.

I'm sure Dr. Ladysounds would have opinions, had she not been shuffled off into retirement. ;)

John Bowers

Count me as one who really likes the music posts.

I love the music posts - the SGR annual lists did an awful lot to shape my taste back in the day (I definitely wouldn't have got into The Fiery Furnaces otherwise!). In the spirit of reciprocity, I've got hugely into this Japanese band called Passepied recently (the ocean of J-Rock is very deep, I've always assumed there's hundreds of great bands waiting to be discovered, but this is the first one that has really grabbed me!). https://open.spotify.com/album/1lVJ1LWjQfnthPH3gbUZwJ?si=UAgZ0uB_SCetksNx_YMeSg

Also a fan of a little musical interlude, especially as I find my natural inclinations don't give me much overlap with your picks, so there's always something new and exciting! I would never have dreamed of a DMB release in 2023, what a world

I do like your music posts! I admire you for managing to find any new music at all.

I love your music recommendations. Some stuff leaves me scratching my head but the stuff I like I REALLY like. I probably wouldn’t have stumbled upon Julia Holter otherwise.
