I love how this page takes us in just 4 panels through their whole range of feelings from “Holy shit, that just happened” to “you’re going to be the best Head Boy yet”😳🙌🥰 And, to see in the last panel, the close up of Charlie’s face, chock full of POSITIVE emotion, in the very same corridors of the place he experienced bullying and really dark moments, is such the redemptive arc. Every little detail (his hair, the way he holds his head so we see he is listening but also thinking ahead about his potential, and his smile, omg, his sweet smile is perfect with it’s just enough allowance of confidence and hope)…these details add up so we can literally see all the thoughts Charlie is processing in this moment and I’m here for all of it🥹

The best part about Charlie becoming Head Boy is that after everything that happened in the past few volumes -the bullying leading to ed and the compulsion to control something in his life, applying for and becoming Head Boy would full circle give him that power and control and autonomy that was taken away from him, and even though mental illness doesn’t ever just go away, this will unlock new outlooks and that should make navigating it all easier. And that I got from what four little panels. Masterful.
