The emotion on Nick’s face speaks volumes. Alice, I truly admire how much feeling you can convey in your illustrations. You can clearly see the pride in Nick's expression, but there's also a sense of relief in how far Charlie has come, along with a touch of sorrow for what Charlie had to endure, oh and how much they love each other!

Yeah, that would be kinda shitty. But, wait, maybe they DO know beforehand, and Charlie's face is not anxiety but him being shocked he won, and still trying to take it all in. [I watched the last (UK) election coverage, and at the count results, the candidates always know before they get up on stage who has won. Yet, plenty of nasty, arrogant MPs who had just lost their seats had the same smug expression on stage as the guy to our right, even though they already knew they had lost.]

What does true love look like? Turn to p. 1619 of Heartstopper, and you will see (and feel!) the quintessence of true love (and the fact that it's queer love makes it even better!)...captured in the tightest, softest, warmest embrace you can ever imagine...and getting why they never want to let go. It's Nick, being so fucking proud of knowing everything that Charlie has overcome since their very first "Hi," and having just watched it all culminate in Charlie opening up to the entire school to best effect change. It's Charlie, knowing exactly how much Nick has been there for him, and knowing, without hesitation, that he will be there for Nick because Nick is his person. Seriously, the amount of emotion conveyed in those two panels is overwhelming in the best way🥹 and I love how we jump to a week later, on stage, and see the 3 very different expressions of the candidates. Alice is so real for that detail because I can easily recall my former classmates and know exactly who would be those other two guys...(I suspect most of us can!)😂

Ironically, in the novella it seems Harry is better and is no trouble to Nick and Charlie. He has as some stage between Book 5 and the novella realised the error of his ways.
