Wait I love this page and their flirting is so endearing, but I'm sensing an underlayer in that 4th panel like Charlie noticed Nick has been feeling a little unmoored for a while and is trying to bring him out of his shell a little 🥺❤️‍🩹 they are so good to each other. (Maybe I'm reading way too much into their dialogue, but Alice does subtlety so well, their little jokey exchange feels meaningful beyond just an invitation to dance)

I love the sweet progression on this page...starting with the three zoomed in panels. We get Charlie's confident pirate boots, boldly striding across the room, clearly seeking "something". Then, we have those boots finding their favorite pair of Vans, and facing them toe to toe. It feels like home right here! But, again, we have a sense of who is struggling now as we see Charlie take the lead, pulling Nick close (such a brilliant touch with the middle finger through the belt loop...it's a perfect balance between being really assertive and also so very tender🥹)...Next, we shift to that zoom out of Nick and Charlie in the center of the whole party, but with eyes only for each other. They are back to their sassy, flirtatious selves...but before anyone gets stolen (this sheriff is a real pushover, btw!), we get my favorite panel of the day, the small inset of THEM, complete with the love. The respect. The mutual 'I'm a better person because of you'. The blushing and the quickened heart beat, but in a way that is grounding, too. It's all that, captured in that one little frame (not to mention with a cowboy hat too!). And lastly, we get a shift back to lighter, flirty moods with all the party vibes and laughing friends. It's a wonderful journey that is a great party scene and also so much more than a great party scene. Beautifully done💜
