The way this page snuck up on my feelings and has me in happy tears rn… 😭

Noah

i would genuinely make an anti-bullying squad at my school cause i know from personal experience that being bullied is really awful. things i would do to make people who are being bullied/have been bullied feel safer.

Charlie creating a resource that he thinks would've helped him when he was in trouble, so he can protect others now❤️‍🩹

Ann-Marie Still

Charlie is absolutely flying. Using his own personal experiences to educate, lead and support. He is finally showing the strength I'm himself that Nick has seen from the beginning. I love this so much 🍂🍂🍂

Cody

CHARLIE!!!!!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!! You got this!! ❤️❤️

Merel

Charlie went from someone who hid himself away and didn't even tell anyone about the bullying, to a strong leader who is speaking out and actively preventing the same thing from happening to other kids. Getting to witness his journey and growth has been a true joy and privilege.

Fran

I thought it was an error from my app since you said no page today and then I was like “oh, okay, thanks Alice!”

Aims

This page just made me feel an overwhelming emotion similar to cuteness aggression because I am just *so* proud of him AAAHHHHH 🏋🏼🤸🏼🤾🏼

Raine

Love this! When you think of Michael Holden what songs do you think of?

Chloe ♡

the fact charlie has planned that they’ll all help each other deal with the situations instead of leaving it to one person will be so incredibly helpful because they can all put their thoughts and ideas together to help the people who need it the most

Thomas Bird

It’s so great to see Charlie thriving at school!

Loveislove

Love getting a page, love the leaves, love Charlie's confident leadership, love Nick's joyful support and love that the anti bullying squad are students we have never seen before. Charlie has inspired others to become involved and be empowered 👏👏👏

Merel

Aristine

i was about to say i thought no page haha but glad you were able to get one up

Scott Whittall

Char in charge! Look at him hit the ground running. And there is his rock right beside him. Nick and Char, Unstoppable now...

DogBefriender22

I’m thinking about anyone, of any age, who reads this page and might be inspired to overcome the fear and do the same thing as Charlie at their school/college/workplace - and speak up about bullying, and share and collaborate with others, so people know they’re not alone in this, and that they can tackle it better together, with each others support. Alice’s work is just so brilliant, and special, and important … but also heartwarming and entertaining - WHAT A COMBO! 🤩 We need Alice clones running every school and workplace in the world please! 😄

Robert

It's great to see Charlie's plans coming your way fruition and that his people are supportive. Thanks foreboding the page Alice.

Sarah Parker-Shemilt

This is brilliant, but I hope that Charlie and the group also have excellent adult support. Supporting people going through bullying can be very difficult and challenging, and if you have been through it yourself, it can bring up a lot of difficult emotions. Does Charlie still see Geoff? Regardless, I hope they can support others while keeping their own oxygen mask on, so to speak.

RCM

There is something so beautiful in the way Charlie is approaching his role as Head Boy. In his past, he struggled with giving up control as part of his protective trauma response (and his OCD), but he has worked so hard over the past year, and to now see him, delegating and trusting OTHERS because he KNOWS the only way to really make a difference (and stop bullying) is through a TEAM effort...I'm so, so proud. I know it wasn't a straightforward journey for Charlie to get here, but this feels like a full circle of growth, and it's incredibly healing to see it for Charlie, and even more impactful when you think about all the future "Charlie's" who will benefit from this very intentional and well though out school wide layer of protection! (and I love that there isn't a "zero tolerance one size fits all" anti-bullying policy being enacted but rather a case by case basis discussion, which will actually help even more!). But, that last panel feels awkward to me...I feel like Charlie has been in HIS zone, and has just received a positive response and validation from his anti-bullying team, so he maybe would not need to ask Nick, "do you think that was okay?" (although he welcomes any hug at any time from Nick)...but Nick, used to being an affirmer, preemptively offers, "That was great!!" It's another subtle shift of Nick being used to being needed, but now Charlie is not necessarily having a need in that way as much...I don't know, it feels like this will be an unspoken "minor" thing that gets internalized...👀

Evergreen

Go Charlie!! Wow I love this. 🥹

Claire

Charlie for PM I say organised and doing good.

Loveislove

Ooh - do you think Charlie will think Nick is in the way here or Nick will feel he is in the way? I just read it as Nick being positive and supportive. I'm surprised he is not on the squad as he has seen first hand not just Charlie's bullying but also Harry's bullying over the years. This is something Nick could genuinely take a stand on himself even though Charlie is the leader.

Polythene Pam

Can we get an anti-bullying squad at every school? This is brilliant 🙌

James

At the very least I'd expect Mr Farouk, Mr Ajayi and Miss Singh to be offering their support! Reading between the lines, it seems that the staff at the school have a pretty poor record on tackling bullying to date. But these specific teachers I can see being the exceptions. And in comic-book Universe, Mr Ajayi has only just moved from Higgs to Truham so I'm guessing even his unofficial art-room lunchtime clubs from the tv series weren't even a thing. Maybe we get to see them being born in this chapter!

Lisa K.

Why do you think that Nick is not in the Squad? I though he is? 😊

Lainey

Surprise page made my day💕 so proud of the anti bullying squad🥹🥹

Loveislove

Agreed - and as a teacher - it would be important this group be supervised by a member of staff. Remedies and response to bullying go beyond student response alone and require liason to families and other professional support systems.

Ariel

❤️

brie

surprise!

Lusi

I know what you mean in the last part of your comment. But from my own experience, it can change so fast from being secure about what you do is right to being completly insecure. Esp. when you're just at the beginning of feeling more confident sometimes. You can fall back to old habbits quite fast. Also he is so used to include Nick and maybe he felt that Nick kind of felt lost, so he wanted to make sure that his opinion matters to him. Maybe he noticed that Nick kind of felt left behind so he wanted to include him and make sure his plans are ok for Nick, too.

Kristen

Always the supportive boyfriend! Plus Charlie taking charge is so freaking fantastic! Coming into his own! Love it! ❤️🍂🥰

Sarah Parker-Shemilt

@Loveislove—Absolutely. Bullying is also not always in front of witnesses; how are the group going to handle situations where "person A says this, person B says that, and they were alone together?" I can see this rapidly getting out of control without adult support.

ucfnurse

Charlie is such a great leader!!☺️😊🤗👏😻💞🌟🌞🌻🎉✌️🕊️☮️

Maia

I needed one of these at all my schools

Anna Deligio

Glad for a break from Nick's inevitable and necessary but hard to watch though eventually for the best growth, but also know it needs to come to a head and be expressed and explored. Sigh. Still - good to see Charlie's leadership skills shining. ❤️

Angie Michaelis

What a great surprise today! I love seeing Charlie blossom into his leadership era. Young Charlie would be in awe and so proud. And Nick’s beaming pride never gets old. 🥹💙

James

Charlie showing some great leadership skills here. He seems like the kind of person who listens to others and knows each person's talent then low-key coordinates it so that the talent is used where it's needed. It's not about him. It's about something he's passionate about, but it's not about his ego. That's why some of the most reluctant leaders are often the best. I think if there's awkwardness on the last panel it will be entirely on Nick's side. Of course Nick ought to be in the anti-bullying squad! Even if he wasn't Charlie's boyfriend he'd be highly qualified for the role (we were discussing on the last page his intuition to how people feel and emotional intelligence, and let's not forget the career path he eventually takes!) But I can see those pangs of doubt running through his head. Maybe he's questioning his own worth, that this is 'Charlie's thing' and that he's feeling out of place or intruding (even though he isn't). He instinctively wants to hug or hold Charlie's hand a lot (both out of pride and support but also because HE needs him) but maybe each time he does this he immediately starts thinking 'Am I being too clingy'? Charlie might start picking up on Nick's increased need of phyical confirmation, but I think he wants Nick there both as his boyfriend AND for what he can bring to the table. And despite all his outward confidence, Charlie still has his own insecurities, even though they're at a low-key level right now. He still needs Nick even if Nick thinks he doesn't.

Loveislove

Ah you're right - maybe he is - I was thinking he wasn't because the rest of the students were unknowns. It felt like more of Nick's pattern of being supportive rather than thinking for himself and making his own choices. Hopefully it will be clearer soon 😊

James

I think where they can help as students is being on the front-line role. Those being bullied are often afraid to go to teachers because they feel this will make the bullying worse (and if the teachers aren't doing their jobs properly sometimes it can). They can offer a first port of call for students who don't feel able to take a more 'formal' route. They can also be eyes and ears to spot bullying the teachers either haven't noticed or haven't taken enough interest in noticing. But of courses you're right, ultimately it is the teachers' job to deal with bullies, not a group of 16-18 year olds. I think we've had a few hints that (most of) the staff at this school haven't necessarily been the best at this. They're probably reactive rather than proactive, which isn't good enough. Hopefully Charlie and his team can be the intermediaries who force them to get their house in order.

Katrina

I love this page so much!! Charlie is such an awesome leader already!! We love a supportive boyfriend and also Happy Bisexual Visibility Day everyone including Nick obviously xD

RCM

I agree, I do think Nick is part of the team ( and he will be a huge asset!), and I think that he IS also being genuinely positive and supportive of Charlie here (as always, and I think Charlie does welcome this), but I worry that Nick is also subtly comforting his own (again unvoiced and still buried) fears. That is the tricky part about what is happening inside of Nick right now. Everything EXTERNALLY points to "things are great!" because they actually are. He and Charlie are in a dreamy, secure place in their relationship, Charlie is thriving and making changes everyone wants at school, Nick is out so no more sneaking around (they even get to have sleepovers!), they have a great friend group...yet, all of this makes it easier for him to ignore the moments of uncertainty he has been having. But, silent mental health battles still happen when everything outwardly is going well, and there is something in that bottom panel that reminds me of that louder than usual. (such an important and much needed storyline🥺❤️‍🩹)

Joni

I love a surprise page! 😍

Beam Bugge

she does, though I don't think it is, since Georgia never went to truham - but it could be like her cousin or something!

Beam Bugge

what a lovely surprise! go Alice, and go Charlie 🤩🤩 love how that one girl looks so tiny next to all the guys lol

Loveislove

Absolutely 💯- peers are very important and the staff have been incredibly negligent allowing this culture to breed and build. And I know teachers in the U.K. are still dealing with the after effects of Section 28 and never mind teaching in the U.S. today with its challenges. However - the new crop of teachers like Ms. Singh, Mr. Farouk and Mr. Ajayi can help. Every school would benefit from an anti bullying squad and a Pride Club or GSA.

Hearting_Hobi

I love how supportive Nick is 😍

Cliff

If only every school had a Charlie! Every panel touching upon this topic resonates with me so much, which is why the positive impact of Heartstopper means so much to me. Social acceptance of bullying culture needs to stop in order for bullying to end. There are still way too many people who confuse toxic masculinity with strength, as the current US election season highlights.

David C Witkin

Happy Bi Visibility Day! Lovely to see Charlie so strong and handsome Nick beaming with pride!

artxsta

the more confident and self-assured i see charlie becoming, the more concerned i am abt how the events of nick & charlie are gonna play out… he seems like he’s standing on his own two feet pretty well! ik that’s still a long time away but just something i’ve been thinking about!!

Elora (EeveeCollectorElora)

Thank you for the surprise page - am having a bad MH day and it’s really helped ❤️

Lauren

Today's panel seems familiar?? Are we crossing into "Nick and Charlie" territory now??

Krystyn

So first : THANK YOU ALICE for the page! 💜 And I love the dynamic of the last pages with Charlie taking his space and Nick, a constant support.

Murgy

A wild page appears! With an anti-bullying squad meeting. On Bi-visibility day with a proud Nick and a happy Charlie? Today is a good day. Thank you Alice :)

Emma

I love that Charlie is being the person that he really needed in the past. Such a full circle moment 🌟🩷

James

Very well put! Nick has been slow at understanding his own feelings in the past, despite being good at noticing when something is up with others. Like how he said he realised after coming out as bi that he'd been suppressing parts of who he was without realising. Or not fully understanding what was going on when he first had a crush on Charlie. So there's a good chance Nick's insecurities now are somewhat subconscious. He feels them but doesn't explicitly realise what they are? If that makes sense? Getting better at this is going to be part of his journey.

Nathalie

I feel like Charlie is maybe not really happy with nick’s reaction, if you zoom in on Charlie’s face it is not a happy smile but more of a nervous face. Maybe he didn’t wanted and needed nicks support here in front of the rest of the squad. I don’t know if that makes sense but it’s just how I saw it.

boombroadcast

I think he might just be feeling a bit bashful about the praise, maybe nervous about how this is all gonna work out! I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t want Nick around.

boombroadcast

Yay Charlie and squad! He’s really making moves and creating the support systems he didn’t have. Curious about whether we’ll get to see the squad in action at any point! I imagine intervening when bullying arises will be both healing and maybe a bit emotionally difficult for Charlie. 💕

Jo S

I love that Charlie has got straight to work and sticking to his principles of helping other students as soon as he is elected! No waiting around!! He is showing such strength! Nick being there to support can only make him feel more confident! Nick still struggling to adapt I feel? ❤️

James

Yeah I see the wobbly smile as more his low-key nervousness. Like "did I do ok?" His eyes are big and warm and looking directly at Nick so I don't think he's directing anything negative.

RyeCowSki

I love the way Nick is looking at Charlie in this- you can tell how proud of him he is 🥹❤️🥰

Juliette

Wish I had an anti-bullying squad in junior high...

Neenie

Charlie makes the most sense
