I know Tao and Aled didn’t mean anything negative about making it seem like Nick is some sort of savior but it was slightly off putting and Charlie probably didn’t tell them anything hence that look on his face in the first panels 😔 he probably doesn’t want to seem like he is whining about the so called ‘perfect boyfriend’ As for what’s happening next I can’t wait to see Head Boy Charlie completing his promises of making people feel safe 🫶🏽

...this isn't gonna be good is it? My first thought was actually that poor stressed Nick got into a fight, but after reading everyone's comments, the possible stopping of bullying transpiring seems a lot more likely.

Yikes - I think he didn't appreciate the knight in shining armour comment. Wonder what the time frame is here. This is herculean restraint from Charlie lol - I would have snapped right back at them and said something to Nick. I suspect it is our young friend with the glasses getting bullied and Charlie is going to have something to say about it.

Oh goodness -- cliffhanger! Is Charlie as head boy going to move to sort out some bullying? The thing that worries me is Nick might step in - feeling he has to protect Charlie when he does not need to. I think I will just read the content of Charlie's Classical Civilisation folder while waiting for the next page - need the distraction - too nervous.

Our Charlie has so much on his mind. Bless him!! ❤️ I think he was thinking about Nick and him being the overzealous bf and now I suspect his attention will be drawn to some sort of bullying incident! 😯 If that's the case, how will Charlie cope with the drudging up of old memories? Hope he has a chance to talk to his therapist about it. Also, this is a new challenge to Charlie- paying attention to his studies, his passion and responsibilities as Head Boy and looking after his beloved Nick...who doesn't really have anyone else to look after him. So much rides on those slender shoulders! Nick and Charlie might for the first time have to deal with how to cope when the other one is distracted.... managing expectations in a relationship, being kind to each other and being kind to oneself..... Alice!!!! Can't wait to see where the story goes....😀❤️

No… especially since Tao and Aled just said Nick is ‘perfect’ and a knight and shining armor and Charlie isn’t sure how he feels about that. This needs to be Charlie’s thing to solve. He’s starting to feel like Nick thinks Charlie is something ‘to fix’ and he isn’t.

Charlie's "..." in that first panel says so much about what is currently happening inside Charlie's head, as he KNOWS something is up with Nick, but it really isn't about what Aled and Tao just said (however annoying that is and how he would normally correct them, but this is about NICK and not Charlie and Charlie is now putting the clingy and the avoiding and the deflecting and the quiet and the overprotectiveness together)...I love the ‘it's hard to show this on paper even using WORDS, but Alice manages to intentionally and beautifully draw Charlie in a way that conveys a "present but absent" mood here’...(we've seen it with Nick recently, too, with his emotional thoughts literally during sex of their possible future home together). Now, we have Charlie staring directly at Tao and Aled, but it's like he doesn't really register them, but sees past them as his thoughts are clearly somewhere else, processing Nick. He is also in a place where he isn't yet ready to seek advice from his friends mostly because he hasn't fully figured it out, and, although Tao and Aled love Nick, they don't know him like Charlie does...it's hard for Charlie to explain it even to himself right now, and you see that in the second panel where Charlie just looks down, more unsettled than defeated with his thoughts, and there's that darn darker background showing behind him. He's seeing that this may take more than just being there for Nick, giving soft supportive space, to figure out (it may require talking!) There are just so many complicated emotions captured in those first two panels alone...and Charlie stays in that worried space as he "presently but absently" starts to walk out of the 6th form lounge...and then, the sounds of "HA HA, HA HA" snap Charlie out of his "..." mood. Does he hear a familiar voice laughing something off or a triggering reminder of his past as someone is being NOT NICE in the corridor? I lean to the latter, since in that bottom panel his mouth remains tight and worried, but we will see. Whatever the commotion is, it is not unfamiliar to our Head Boy...

i might be wrong, but i honestly don’t think charlie’s anguish is about aled’s “knight in shining armour” comment. charlie & nick both know that charlie’s strength and recovery is extremely self-driven, even if he had an excellent support system on his side. i guess we will find out in the next couple pages, but i think charlie’s expression is due to the fact that he’s frustrated, worried and probably a bit disgruntled by the fact that nick is CLEARLY avoiding something bigger and hasn’t talked to charlie about it. nick’s avoidant tendencies are becoming more and more obvious, and more and more frequent, and charlie probably is thinking a lot abt how to proceed. also, im wondering if charlie is going to confront some bullies on the next page. and to share some predictions, i have a feeling that, similar to the sandwich incident, nick will try to fix/handle it but charlie will say he has it under control as head boy, causing a disagreement between them and a confrontation of what’s going on beneath the surface…
