i love how tara has this convo w charlie now in the comic vs in the show when she had it w nick at prom at the end of s2. in these storylines, both boys knew they needed to talk to each other, and she seemed to get the gears turning / act as some sort of catalyst. also loving the evolution of tara and charlie’s friendship, it’s so sweet. i hope they talk to / lean on each other more !

Platonic love is SO important. They're so cute and I wanna see more of their friendship! Love that we're seeing more of other people's plans for post-Truham. I keep sitting here, finding myself (slightly irrationally) so emotional over this page, but so full of gratitude and hope that we get to experience seeing friendship and love like we do in Heartstopper...I mean, the way they all try to understand each other, to listen, to communicate as best they can, to be there for each other to celebrate the highs and to weather the lows...it's giving me life right now. It's making me a better person as I read and think about how I can intentionally do the same for my friends. And, the wisdom and insight behind the word choices that Tara makes here (and the ones we know Charlie is echoing silently) are breaking me. They BOTH are emotionally intelligent regarding their respective partners. I love how Tara shares that she KNOWS Darcy isn't telling her everything, and yet we see she doesn't judge Darcy, or question her own worth in Darcy's love or loyalty to them, but instead aches for Darcy...she sees and loves ALL of Darcy (as Charlie sees and loves all of Nick) and she HOLDS SPACE for Darcy to open up to her when Darcy is ready. I feel like Charlie has been doing the same for Nick...listening, putting it all together, encouraging conversation but not forcing it (yet). The panel of just him today shows the awareness of all he has been observing and carrying as he tries to decide when and how to talk to Nick more..."that's tough." I can see why Darcy doesn't want to talk to Tara about their (new and exciting news!) trip in detail though. Darcy clearly would want to go and is likely dreaming daily of all the wonderful moments they will have (which may be exactly what is giving her strength to survive whatever is going on in her world), but the reality of HOW to financially and realistically make this happen with a homophobic mum is too overwhelming. I'd procrastinate facing reality and cling to the dream too, Darcy, especially as I suspect you think you could possibly disappoint Tara. It parallels Nick NOT talking to Charlie about trying to decide about university and his own future. He doesn't want to disappoint Charlie, or his mum, and he is still sitting on top of ALL his other childhood trauma issues from his parents divorce and dad's shaming that still need to be processed (because they are poking at him all the time now!). I think what hits me most on this page is the soft, tender concern and care they have for their partners and also for each other. Just as both Tara and Charlie could get way in their heads here, Alice lightens the mood and we get the sweetest cheek kiss which is an affectionate and visual reminder that none of us are alone, that talking to friends can help, and it's a lovely "thank you" for listening and hearing. I love the last panel as Tara gives a hopeful over the shoulder wave, too. "Yeah?" "Yeah." It's not perfect, there wasn't a solution, but there was a shared moment of vulnerability and worry for their partners, and by this simple act of sharing, a new feeling of HOPE was born. And that HOPE is what I needed today...going sit on this page for a bit longer-xx

The page was SO good. I think it may be a combination of a few reasons that Darcy isn't talking, but I think she didn't come tonight, maybe for similar reasons in Perfect in the TV series where her mom isn't approving of her outfit and something happened. (Or something like that.) I also saw some people be mildly upset about Charlie not giving advice, but it's not like he has had any luck himself and as I have said, he has done everything "right" (or as an adult, how I would approach it.) but if someone doesn't want to talk, there is only so much you can do. The kiss is so cute too. I love the Charlie/Tara friendship!

Sometimes all we need is a small vent to a friend. I would have thought Darcy might have thrown themselves into planning travelling, as its an escape from home and her mother. But then again, if her mother is making threats about that I can see why she'd back off from it. That or depression could be feeding the distance and the increasing issues with time and actually being about. On the flip side its nice to see a window into Charlie and Tara's friendship :)
