Seems affectionate and less worried and not angry. Perhaps Darcy's situation and how they and Tara handle it has provided some perspective - for both Nick and Charlie (as their relationship often does ❤️)

Even worse than that. Its not just phobia of people throwing up, its being mindful of what you eat and how to prevent becoming sick with everything you have. Its literally dictating and directing your life. I suffer from it and it’s not fun, let me tell you 🥲 One example, I caught a stomach bug over Christmas (present from the nephew who caught it in kindergarten 🥲) and I pumped myself with anti-vomit medications because I was so terrified of throwing up. It helped but my mental health was really, really bad because of those 48 hours that I was sick

Thanks for the mild warning Alice 🫶🏼 As someone who suffers from Emetophobia for over 20 years this is greatly appreciated. Thankfully I got a whole lot better with reading about throwing up or seeing it in a comic or on TV but it wasn’t always like this. I’m still pretty bad but I got better and working on it now with my therapist. So again, thank you so much for being so mindful of it and acknowledging this unfortunately very real phobia🙏🏼❤️

I once drove home a friend and her very drunk boyfriend in my dad‘s fiat and wasn’t as lucky as Tara… Also, I read a lot of comments wondering about whether Nick is going to make it to the game or not. My bet is on Nick making it there and being able to play despite a hangover from hell. He’s the captain after all.

Poor Nick...the sweat and heroic effort it is taking to NOT puke...he's trying so hard and you can see it all over his little face! I LOVE those 3 individual panels (with the "little" detail of maintaining the same size frames really helps to emphasize how connected they are as a friend group, but also how wonderful it is to each have space to be their own selves too!) carefully drawn to show everyone's different perspective of this potentially very unfortunate situation...each fits their personalities so perfectly! Charlie looks worried and a little "I KNEW he wasn't OKAY!" all while we know he is rubbing Nick's back to soothe and reassure him. Darcy is like, "DUDE! DO NOT throw up on in this car and do not throw up on ME!" and Tara, who clearly echoes Darcy's sentiments, continues to do the responsible thing and focus on getting Nick safely HOME. These visuals of them are even more heightened in the VROOM panel as Tara motherly chides Nick (warning him but mixed with love, of course), then Darcy who has the most vested interest in this moment since they are directly in the line of "the Green Dragon," shouting "Drive Faster" (paralleling how Elle yelled from the backseat last summer!), and Charlie being the nice, empathetic, love he is, leans in with practical calming tips "Deep breaths." I cannot imagine being Nick Nelson as he gets out of, I mean, is pulled out of the back seat of Tara's tiny Fiat...his thoughts are shaky, his stomach is queasy, he's so tired, it's been a helluva night. And, he was just "fine" a bit ago, resting on Charlie, effectively procrastinating the awful aftermath of drinking too much for a little longer, kind of like he tends to do with some of his harder feelings and decisions, but let's not go there now. Then, Nick got all excited with Darcy's wonderful they/them update but, right after, had to suffer through a fast moving ride home, and now is having to go through challenging his (still very wobbly...I see you beer bubbles!) gravitational center just to get out of the car. The sweetest thing, though, is that he isn't alone...even in this really crappy feeling moment, he isn't alone (Nick, pay attention! You have support! You can open up and talk and you have REAL friends (plural!) who want to listen!)...Darcy stands with their arms folded, probably worried for Nick but also warning Charlie to keep Nick moving away from Tara's car, lol, and then we have Charlie, holding Nick supportively, keeping pressure on his shoulder to steady him, and there is something so tender, so loving in that encouraging, "Come on, SILLY, nearly there!" that makes my heart so happy. It's so Nick and Charlie, with that "I've got you. You are my person and it's going to be okay..." One step at a time...

I love this page. Even though we’re still seeing the effects of this awful night, there’s humor here, and we all needed that. Alice, I will never not be blown away by how you capture emotions in these drawings! Beautiful work. 🫶 This brings back memories. lol. Somehow, I always ended up being the designated driver, and I was not as lucky as Tara. 🤢😅 I especially love how Alice captured Charlie’s emotions so well—he looks irritated and concerned at the same time in the second panel, but he’s such a sweet boyfriend that he immediately starts comforting and caring for Nick, and that “silly” in the last panel felt so forgiving and loving. Can’t wait to see what happens next? If Nicholas makes that rugby match, he is going to be hurting!
