I actually think he will. Charlie has learned a lot from his therapy and come so far. I’m hoping Alice shows it with the next panel that Charlie can be ok without Nick and that Charlie won’t fall apart again just because they are having a hard time. I know these boys belong together and they are soulmates but they need to be able to function without each other also. Charlie has seen that. Nick needs to start to realize it too.

We’ve already seen the panel of Charlie sitting at his kitchen table struggling to eat. ❤️‍🩹 I hope he recognizes that he needs to see Geoff or talk to someone like Tori, and that he needs to utilize all those skills and strategies he learned in order to help himself. But he’s in a pretty bad place himself, so he may need someone to intervene for him. ☹️

I feel you, David...being abruptly awakened "early" (cause I just KNOW you stayed up way late last night scrolling on insta and tik tok) by the awful, soul penetrating, PAINFUL sound of a fire alarm is THE WORST...and then to also smell smoke, yikes! I'd yell "WTF" too! But, there is something about the fact you paused just enough to throw your robe over your bare chest that makes ME pause...like you always come across as an all bark and bite asshole (TBD if you are going to remain a fixed growth mindset), but I see that little insecurity you have about YOURSELF too as you have to partially cover up, partially hide, in order to not expose ALL of you even in your own house. It's like you can't let parts of you be seen, be reached, because they are still waiting for approval or validation from your dad...so your coping mechanism of bark and bite keeps people from getting too close, right? (just be careful, David, too much of this, and it may become so ingrained in you that you may just get your "wish")...anyways, "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?" is THE question of the day/months...and Nick's face here sums up his answer, " I don't know," (god it's painful to see, isn't it?!) as he looks blankly at his burnt pancake, rather, Charlie's burnt pancake, and tries to thinks about his whole last 24 hours, wondering, "what did I do wrong?" with his key (and incorrect) word being DO. The time since he helped Charlie carry the drum set in till now somehow simultaneously feels like it has lasted the length of a year and somehow is just a nightmare of his worsening dreams...how long have you been staring at that pan, Nick? Are you looking for answers or clarity there? Sweet love, sweet sweet love...you are hurting, and i know you are blind to WHY you are hurting...and all you can do is stare. I love how Alice didn't have Nick moving to shake the pan or blow on it or put it in the sink...he just stands and stares, just like he did when Charlie left. His hurt is numbing him to being able to shake it off, to see past that burn and that internal hurt and really SEE what is causing all of this. It's such a good panel because there are so many little nuances, and I know it is one that will hit me differently every time I read it. And Charlie...he is at the opposite end of their (currently) out of sync balancing act...he is moving, he is going through a door, he is feeling all of the hurt but is DOING the things for himself that allow him to PROCESS safely...healthy coping skills employed. (and that doesn't mean it will go perfectly, but it is encouraging...although I know his heart is shattered right now, too...). I am so glad both Charlie and Nick are silent in their panels today...and it's interesting how we get a front view of Nick and his immobility while we have a back view of Charlie with him actively walking through an open door...it's a reminder to me that even though things feel crappy right now, they are still two halves that make a matching, wonderful, beautiful whole...but the whole is only as strong as its parts, and one part, right now, our beloved golden retriever, is struggling but cannot admit or acknowledge it...He almost burned down his kitchen, just hurt his boyfriend, is hungover, and feels so empty but doesn't know why...he is not feeling worthy of his part of their whole, and worse, worthy of himself. His buried emotions and trauma are catching up to him...the trick is, Nick, it is TOTALLY OKAY to not know the why, as long as you CAN share that you, (yes YOU), feel off/not right...and remember your worth is not based on what you DO for others...it is not based on that pancake in that pan...it just isn't.

There’s the David we all remember. Lol. I can’t decide if he will trigger tears in Nick or a flash of anger. Maybe both, but I know he will trigger *something* in Nick that will hopefully move him forward. I love the emotions on both boys’ faces here. Their eyebrows are amazing, as usual, and so emotive. (What is David really so angry about?) I also love how the dark smoke from the pan wraps around Nick, enclosing him in darkness like the panels we’ve seen when he’s struggling with his mental health. A broken clock is right twice a day and David is screaming what all of us have screamed the last week. Don’t expect brotherly advice, though. I like seeing the Christmas tree at Charlie's house because I still think it is a symbol and timeline to some progress and snuggles. I think Charlie and Tori will get some talk time. What I am hoping for is that she can broach the discussion of an upsetting topic that she shares with Nick - the trauma of Charlie's self harm and the weight that both she and Nick carried. Has Tori processed it? Has there been family therapy or discussion with Charlie? I'm hoping she will be sympathetic and empathetic towards Nick and help Charlie understand a possible issue Nick is struggling with.

All chaos reigns at Nick's house with sensory overload. The incessant beeping, the smell of the burnt pancake and now the emotional hostility of David. Nick looks freaked out, still somewhat frozen, not processing. I don't know if tears or anger are coming next. Maybe the one reaction that would provoke support from David would be if Nick were still frozen, emotionless and broken. I know what I don't want to see - Sarah walking in, seeing David bullying Nick and defaulting to weak complaints about language. It's time to support this precious bean. At this point it's just willful to not notice his suffering.

Ah, David's appearance is definitely going to cause an argument, if Nick wasn't so shell shocked. I don't think its going to be a good day at all for ether of them. I feel that Nick is going to have that expression on his face most of the day, and is not going to do well at all during the match later, quite possibly his worst match in years. Whereas Charlie is going to be alone at home, either throwing himself into something so he doesn't have to think or else overthinking. Either way there is likely a concerned Tori about, probably plotting Nick's painful demise in the back of her mind.
