This month we wanna hear about your classic baddies, your niche nonsense, the mystery and theater in MSTK3000. Hit us with your worst and then we'll undemocratically choose one.

Comments

Jeb Dale

Six-String Samurai. Where musicians fight and kill eachother in order to become the next Elvis of New Las Vegas. Also, one of the fighters is Death with his metal band of cronies and at one point, the hero fights the remnants of the Polish (I think) army?

Hail Stan

Can't go wrong with Donnie Darko, a teenager's idea of a deep movie.

Sarvis

Was gonna suggest "The Room", but that's such low-hanging fruit that I'm suggesting "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" instead. Not exactly what you're looking for, but it's a movie that failed badly in theaters that some people (me) consider to be one of the best movies of all time. (And I know it's not that good, it was just my gay, sexual awakening)

MrHolbyta

Cannibal: The Musical

Michael Colon

"I Am Here... Now" or anything Neil Breen that I'm surprised hasn't made it to this show.

Viridian-Flow

Cult classic like Mall Rats? Or something newer like A Scanner Darkly perhaps. I feel like this is just going to be either Idiocracy or The Room though for terrible but oh god it hurts.

Adam Pope

Rocky Horror. because I've never seen it, but I've crossed paths with Rocky Horror LARPers so I kinda have seen it

Cleric of vecna

You know what, it's almost 30 years old. I nominate either Dante's Peak or event horizon (if you need a space one)

Erin and Gilford Murphy

Alternatively, you could do Hobgoblins, a blatant Gremlins rip off from 1988, featuring a young Darren Norris (the voice of Timmy Turner’s Dad from Fairly Odd Parents)

William Yeske

It's a bit recent for "Cult Classic," but there's always The Exigency. A 2019 labor of love for Sci-Fi action movies, made by somebody who had never made a movie before, did not have access to professional equipment, and used free animation and modeling software never intended for the big screen. Still weirdly compelling.

Chris

Impostor (2001) with Gary Sinise and Vincent D'Onofrio.

Samuel Machi

Death Bed: The Bed that Eats (1977). It's about a bed that eats people.

Joe

Dragon war: D-War. The rest of twilight. The Lost Boys. Glitter. So many good ones

Mobius Rex

Excuse you, there are supposed to be four dots in that ellipsis. The fourth dot adds depth and meaning to Mr. Breen's art.

Matty B

Russian. I think the Red Elvises did all the music. Also Death is Slash. It's so damn good.

Leighanne Davis

Overdrawn at the Memory Bank or Girl in Gold Boots

Mobius Rex

Ninja Turtles 3: Turtles in Time. When the franchise starts to die and it gets weird.

Matty B

Six String Samurai. Post apocalyptic rockabilly Hero's Journey with mutants, cannibals, the Red Army, and the Metal personification of Death. 😘👌

Joshua

Tremors or any of its sequels.

Adam Parkin

Prince of Darkness for Donald Pleasance, Alice Cooper doing almost nothing, and Satan being a vat of green goo

Rob Parker

I would second Prince of Darkness, except that it is the best, not the worst.

Khristle

Father's Day. Its a wild fucking ride and it hangs SO MUCH dong

Suzanne August

The Fog from 1980 with Adrienne Barbeau.

Paul Freelend

The Mangler, Tobe Hooper's treatment of a Stephen King story about a demon-possessed laundry press.

Jess Donovan

1984 Dune. There is a recut that is actually pretty good, but the original cut, yikes.

Rob Parker

Just One of the Guys from 1985 or Congo, 1995

HidariMak

I've seen the movie "Howard the Duck" on several lists of the worst movie ever made, but have yet to hear anyone giving it the MST3K treatment.

Vincent Jorgensen

I am still so confused about SSS. Was it an art film? A homage to classic cinema? Or just bonkers?

Vincent Jorgensen

I don't like this movie but do many film lovers do. What an I missing? I couldn't get past what a shithead Scott is. Stalking, statutory rape, bad musician? The movie worked hard to make sure I couldn't sympathize with the protagonist.

Erica De Parsia

Twister, because it's a cult classic in MY mind.

Amy Baloo

Adventures in Dinosaur City. It came out after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I only mention that because I remember the tag line being something like, "Before there were turtles, dinosaurs ruled the earth!" I remember watching it with my brother hundreds of times. It was really, really bad.

spikethornenebula .

I think there's a reboot coming as well so that would be great I love Toxie💚💚💚

Lincoln Eddy

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Especially if none of you have watched Twin Peaks before. Or SLC Punk. I am ready for my childhood (and some parts of my adulthood) to be made fun of.

Alex Hencken

Suburbia (1983) directed by Penelope Spheeris, whose credits also include Wayne’s World, Black Sheep, as well as The Decline of Western Civilization series. It also includes the first credited performance by Flea.

Jeremy Eckert

"Yeah, Well, You Know, That's Just, Like, Your Opinion, Man." -The Big Lebowski.

Vincent Jorgensen

Just one of the guys! Homophobia, cross-dressing, 80s jock culture. What's there not to love?

AgnesBell

Sleepaway Camp. It’s perfect, and perfectly terrible. Endlessly quotable, impossible to forget, and it has the most beautifully silly twist ending. If you’ve seen it, you adore it.

Vincent Jorgensen

For the 70s hair alone, this is a great pick. But the freezer robot is what keeps me coming back.

You can just think of me as That One Guy

Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam, AKA "Turkish Star Wars". There's even a bit where they talk about the vital importance of Islam, almost qualifying it for the main feed. Nominated because it is deliriously entertaining; it is stuffed to the gills with moments that will have you asking "Did that actually just happen?".

Taru Tikkanen

Did that one already, it was the May 2020 bonus episode, released in June 2020.

You can just think of me as That One Guy

It is by will alone that I set this film in motion. It is by the Metal codpiece of Sting that thoughts are stopped. The eyes are burned out, the scars become a warning. It is by will alone that I set this film in motion.

Kendall Maxwell

Uninvited, the one where the mutant cat comes out of the cat and chews on people while they're making out with each other

Kendall Maxwell

I'm also surprised you haven't gotten to the Neil Breen movies

Trish Roper

Perhaps a little too on the nose, but plan 9 from outer space, or really any ed wood film.

Scoop Bucky

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Thais

The Covenant (2006) or "What if The Craft was all boys and it was unintentionally even gayer and way worse?"

Travis Collins

Alright, this might be a little out there, but in the spirit of Cats, I’m going to suggest the filmed version of “Love Never Dies”. It’s the sequel to ALW’s Phantom of the Opera and while ALW’s fingerprints are all over it, you wouldn’t know from what we see on screen. It’s got music that is thirty-five years out of date, a swimming pool themed burlesque show, character changes that make no sense, enough knock-off Tim Burton imagery to launch a hundred Hot Topics, and a fifteen minute song about a teenage girl (at the time) having sex with a fifty-year old man. It’s practically made for riffing!

David Brooklyn

They Live or Flash Gordon. Perfect time-capsules of the era

parker burgess

I was thinking of suggesting a scanner darkly

parker burgess

I wounder if Stranger Than Fiction would count. Personally I loved the movie but I know a lot of people don't.

Stuart

How about “The Cell” I don’t know if it is “Cult”, but in some respects, it is, at least, a “movie”.

Vincent Jorgensen

Midnight showings of Rocky Horror were a cool bit of cultural underground. I think the soundtrack is great, too! RHPS made me a life-long fan of Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon.

Vincent Jorgensen

I don't know if it's bad enough. I don't like the movie, but I don't hate it, either. To me, it was very meh. I have some struggling author friends who found it deeply moving. But for me, a different type of struggling author, I found it cringe.

Don Toovey

Kentucky Fried Movie to use the classic Wayne’s world quote “it will make you laugh it will make you cry it will make you hurl”.

Don Toovey

Mom and dad save the world and yes it’s as silly as it sounds

Don Toovey

If it hasn’t already been done Bubba go tep”Bruce Campbell as elvis in a nursing home fighting monsters

Don Toovey

Green lantern you already know why

Don Toovey

Daredevil just because of Ben Affleck (I just threw up in my mouth a little bit )

Gina Va

Time Bandits

Gina Va

Something Wicked this way Comes

Vincent Jorgensen

"Ice Pirates" seems like a good idea, especially because I would love to hear Noah incessantly rip on the idea that the titular pirates are stealing water, one of the most common substances in the universe, while the ridiculous movie treats it like it's vibranium.

Clockworkk

There’s a thing of beauty starring Nicholas Cage and John Travolta. I suggest the 1997 Academy Award Winner “Face/Off.” I won’t spoil it, but John Travolta spends the entire film trying to act like Nicolas Cage, and Nicolas Cage was supposed to spend the entire film acting lIke John Travolta, but he just ended up acting like himself instead.

Mirjam Dornauer

Yes, Event Horizon. One of my all time favorite movies

Cleric of vecna

It is one of mine too. In my favorite genre "demon aliens/space hell" which Doom is like and it is one of my favorite games lol. But event horizon was not a great movie sadly

Rob Parker

Yes! Space herpe! I haven't thought about this movie in forever.

Matty B

I have no idea. My bff and I found it at a blockbuster when we were in highschool. It's a top 10.

Don Toovey

And similar to event horizon but just as creepy and nearly as bad Sphere with Sam Neil

Nashjillian

This is my suggestion as well

Kristin

Bio-Dome. Pauly Shore and GAM favorite Stephen Baldwin get locked inside a Bio-Dome with a bunch of environmental scientists.

Mama Llaga

The Manitou (1978) - Tony Curtis is a psychic who saves the world from an evil baby-bump The Dungeonmaster (1984) - "I reject your reality and I substitute my own." Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death (1989) - "Up the Creek" with Bill Maher and Amazons Bijitâ Q [Visitor Q] (2001) - a fucked-up family gets a mysterious vistor who somehow helps them find contentment Willy's Wonderland (2021) - Nicolas Cage as mute janitor spending Five Nights at Freddy's

William Yeske

@Vincent Jorgensen I enjoyed Scott Pilgrim, but the movie utterly failed to convey the point of the books. The comics take place over the course of years. Every main character experiences profound personal growth. Scott Pilgrim has a slow realization that he's a giant piece of shit, and by the time the series ends, he's demonstrably become a better person. The movie takes place over, like, a weekend? There's no real room given for the characters to grow.

Mama Llaga

Also... Quatermass and the Pit (1967) - the Devil comes to Trafalgar Square Pembalasan Rambu (1985) - Turkish Rambo takes down an empire built on sex-slavery Legend (1985) - famous people and unicorns Toys (1992) - utterly surreal even without Robbin Williams and Joan Cusack Tank Girl (1995) - Lori Petty, Ice-T, and Naomi Watts steal post-apocalyptic Australia's rain back from Malcolm McDowell

Rob Parker

Right? It's only (maybe) slightly less offensive than Soul Man.

brokenspoke

It has a scene in which Sir Patrick Stewart cradles a pug in his arms while leading a charge into battle!

brokenspoke

My mother and i love it. A Rowdy Roddy Piper classic and a family watch party tradition.

brokenspoke

How about the battle between the amazing chins of Robert Z'Dar and Bruce Campbell in Maniac Cop?

Dreamcrusher

The Room (2003). You’re tearing me apart….

Jim Monroe

Foodfight! from 2012. It’s the worst animated fever dream of a movie I’ve ever seen. Stars a completely apathetic Charlie Sheen and Wayne Brady.

Viridian-Flow

I remember watching Rubber, but wow the tire falls in love? I must have completely missed that bit, all I remember is shaky-shaky-head-explody.

brokenspoke

Ooh, the GAM episode just reminded me that Peter Jackson's demented muppet movie Meet the Feebles exists.

Michael Colon

"Double Down" Neil Breen's oldest film that started it all. And then move on from there. Ya gotta do all of them.

Unofficial_Opinion

Buckaroo Bonzai Repo Man Pink Floyd’s The Wall Cannibal Holocaust Scanners Body Double

Obviously not a hamster

Cry-Baby from 1990. Johnny Depp, Ricki Lake and Iggy Pop! It was my Boondock Saints, loved it as a clueless kid, but rewatching it as a clueless adult made me sad. Though it is way less racist, so that's something!

Leon Heartly

Man, I would love to see "rat race" I feel that's a classic

brokenspoke

I second Repo Man. To me, it's straight from the shriveled anxious heart of the '80s.

Dexter

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Robby Haentze, a consumer of silliness

"The Number 23" with Jim Carrey, Virginia Madsen, and Danny Huston! or "Willy's Wonderland," a Five Nights at Freddy's-inspired Nic Cage Movie

Birder Stuart

Hell Comes To Frogtown, Labyrinth or Repo Man.

ThePaperLibrarian

"Plan 9 from Outer Space" is still the best bad movie. "Future Wars" is about a Nun who saves a human enslaved by aliens who attack with an army of dinosaurs. It could almost make it to the main feed. "Heavy Metal 2000" or "Wizards" for adult, bad animated movies.

Andy Tague

Not really a bad movie, but I feel like you could have a lot of fun with Bubba Ho Tep.

Adam Pope

can i vote again for Tank Girl?!

April Poff

Ladyhawke. My friends in high school were obsessed with this movie.

April Poff

Appropriate, since Buckaroo Bonzai is one of Alex Jones' favorite movies.

Unofficial_Opinion

Is it better or worse than I remember? Maybe don’t tell me.

Unofficial_Opinion

Is that Alex Jones thing real, because gross. I just wanted to be in a inter dimensional space rock back.

Ilan Woll

Beastmaster - best Tanya Roberts topless

CarrieBoo

I AM SO GLAD SOMEONE BEAT ME TO DANTE'S PEAK. Fuckin love that movie

CarrieBoo

Two Votes for Dante's Peak or Twister

duckflambe

Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter Barn of the Blood Llama (just awful, don't watch it). The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. All these films are meant to be bad, and they succeed.

Fieryfox

Repo! The Genetic Opera -Anthony Head as singing organ repo man in a futuristic dystopian hellscape. What more could you ever want?

Geoffrey T. Blackwell

Not sure if this "poll" is still open but, The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonsai Across the Eighth Dimension needs to be discussed and appreciated for all its cult-classic craziness.

Arcane

A Boy and His Dog (starring a young Don Johnson) Wizards(1977, animated)

Laura Lusby

EEGAH!!! It’s the BEST MST3K ever!!!

Laura Lusby

THE LAST UNICORN is a wonderful movie and I love it but I’m recommending it anyway. As an alternative…LEGEND (or “the Tom Cruise Unicorn Movie”)

Unofficial_Opinion

Oh man, I’d forgotten about They Live! Best fistfight about accessories ever!

Unofficial_Opinion

Is Wizards a cult classic? That movie made me love gas mask iconography for the rest of my life.

Unofficial_Opinion

I vote for this as well. All my misfit friends loved this movie.

Unofficial_Opinion

I feel like the original Heavy Metal also. I loved Wizards as a kid.

Patrick Carr

or Ralph Bakshis Lord of the Rings.

The Godless Trucker & his trusty dog Loki

Screw everyone else, I have the best one! Battlefield Earth with John Travolta and Forest Whittaker! That movie was so awful, and I loved it! I can't watch shitty movies like Eli does, but I've seen this one several times. You could even put it on the regular feed, since it's based on that piece of shit book by L Ron Hubbard. Please do it! If not for the bonus, then do it for regular GAM. You've never done a Scientology movie.

The Godless Trucker & his trusty dog Loki

If not, then do Tank Girl or Bio Dome, they're also great bad. You've already done the real Bio Dome on citation needed, so you can bring Cecil.

Curby Dickens

The problem with “cult classics” is the really fun ones are pretty good and hard to skewer properly and the bad ones are unwatchable. Evil Dead 2, Dolemite, The Room are all amazing to watch but Best F[R]iends or Glenn Danzig’s Verotika are the goddamn worst. That said, my vote goes to Hell Squad or Strike Commando or Grizzly 2. All are fun to watch with interesting backgrounds as to how they got made.

Arcane

Perhaps you are correct, it’s not a dreadful cult classic like The Room, but rewatching it when I was older I was more critical of it. (100% agree about the gas masks ;))

Esme

I definitely want to hear them do a Pauley Shore movie, though it'd be hard to compete with the LAM of Jury Duty

Esme

Dragon Wars: D-War is somehow so completely over the top and yet boring. Such a waste of Robert Forster.

Esme

I would support a Tremors 4 review.

Esme

Paul Verhoeven's magnum opus.

Esme

I feel like Bubba Ho-tep is designed to be a comedy on its own, so a GAM is unnecessary

Esme

Another vote for Showgirls. I also wouldn't mind Anaconda, now that they've done Lake Placid. Uninvited (1988) is great schlock (murder cat).

Nicolette

This island earth

Nicolette

Best worst peeling face

Nicolette

I loved Earth Girls are Easy. I hope if you do it you can tell me the plot…

Nicolette

Yes! How do people not even know about the sequel to RHPS?!

Nicolette

Oh! My step-mothers an alien!!

Rev Eyawn

Surf Nazis Must Die! Someone fights a ninja with a switchblade surfboard!

Vincent Stevens

Old 80's movie "The STuff" it was awful.

Don Toovey

That may be so but it is so gloriously bad that the they would almost have too much fun shredding it

Jen Moore

It’s actually relatively new, but I highly recommend Willy’s Wonderland with Nic Cage!

Alex Hencken

The guys do "Pink Floyd 'The Wall'", I demand a seat at the table (recording) or satisfaction! That film has become part of my raison d'être, it doesn't't make sense, but that's just what how it is, quit judging!!!! Basically I love that film/album, know it back and forth, had way to many in depth discussions with people in less than optimal mental conditions, but at the end of the day from the first viewing and listening it spoke to me like nothing else. So... I get a seat or satisfaction (I'm going to claim Cecil as my Second or champion... I'm claiming him as my champion).

Simmo

Hudson Hawk! Bruce Willis, Richard E Grant, Andy McDowell, Sly Stallone's brother in a singing heist movie from 1991. Sooo goood

Whitdinovic

Gotta do Hudson Hawk, the absolute bad-good good-bad movie

Whitdinovic

Holy shit I just said that too. Just fucking Bruce Willis out the back of an ambulance on a trolley, so baaad

Simmo

Haha that trolley was overtaking other cars I'm pretty sure. I'll never forget Bruce Willis singing Swing on a Star though, it haunts my dreams.

Whitdinovic

Haunts your dreams? Only thing in my dreams was Andie Macdowell from that movie "can we get back to the kissing?"

Simmo

Well that makes more sense than "ill torture you so slowly you'll think it's a career."

david moreland

Let us not forget this may have been Paris Hilton in the height of her acting and singing career.

Hot Dickson Rice

Everyone in my generation mistakingly thinks Never Ending Story is a good movie. It’s not. Very not. I’d love to see it exposed on GAM.

Koichi

Weekend at Bernie’s did not age well

Uriah Jackson

Cat that vomits a murder cat. That was a strange movie idea.

Fieryfox

Oh, man! I forgot she was in it. Plus, with all the music, it'd be a great excuse to bring Anna back!

Mark H

What about Animal House or Breakfast Club? I fear how those have aged. They may make Boondock Saints look progressive.

Jess Donovan

Concur. It opens with 'Look your Ma's been dead for 5 minutes, get the fuck over it. Good chat.'

Jess Donovan

Breakfast Club is a fun movie for entertainment that gets 95% of it's messaging wrong. The nerd who does all the actual work in the movie misses out on a girl as reward, just for instance. Yikes.

Mark H

Or straight up sexual assault.

Hot Dickson Rice

And from there it spirals into a madness even 80’s cocaine can’t make sense of.

Mark H

I think they’re keeping that for the main feed. I wonder if there are any Scientology holidays coming up…

Mark H

Oh yeah, it’s completely smitten with a dark-haired woman and starts eliminating men around her

The Godless Trucker & his trusty dog Loki

I wish they'd do it already! I've mentioned it before, and even upped my patronage pretty high in hopes they'd notice me, but to no avail. I don't know if they see that, since this app doesn't work very well, but I've wanted them to do it for years. They've never done a scientology movie.

Mark H

Oh man, I’m so glad I’m not the only one!

Mark H

I remember when the heavily armed loner was a lovable character and not someone who should be feared or institutionalized

Mark H

I thought it was a printing press—was it a laundry press?!

Mark H

I LOVE that movie, and everyone else looks at me like I’m crazy. I’m a graphic designer, so I was always drawn to the clever animations and their aesthetics. It’s visually revolutionary, imo

Mark H

Already did that one

Mark H

You might just have a winner there.

parker burgess

I really do enjoy this movie it was one of my favorites. But I also understand how people can find it a bad movie. Even if I do disagree. I personally love seeing the authors distress between choosing between her art and somebody's life.

Sabrina H.

Tremors with Kevin Bacon (1990). LOVED that film, had to watch it every time it was on TV.

Rebellion Bear

"It's Alive" 1974 - gloriously on-brand 1970s -- chain smoking, leisure suits, monster baby!

Regina Calabrese

Red Sonja. Literally so bad Arnold made his kids watch it as punishment

David

But how do they make fun of a perfect movie? Haha

David

Oh god yes, it'll kill them!

Ky

'Bad Taste', classic cult horror from New Zealand. C'mon, we might see a young Ray Comfort as a chopped up extra!

Jlynn

I was going to suggest Repo! The Genetic Opera but then I remembered the guys can still hear.

Gina Va

Thanks for the heads up! Listened to it this morning.

Gina Va

Hard yes vote for Legend!

Gina Va

Fuck yeah for the Legend suggestion!!!
