I have actually read the decision about that Canadian kid. The fact pattern is so terrible that, yes, if you plug any other condition in, it’s a slam dunk against the dad. Also, Canadian law allows a child to consent to medical care on their own (in this case, it’s the British Columbia Infant’s Act, part 2, section 17). So it’s pretty much black-letter law, and an honest person would have to address it. It is, in fact, just like if a teenager wanted their appendix taken out and their parents wanted to use the power of Jebus and essential oils. We do get to pick preferred adjectives. People object to being called “Black Jennifer” and “White Jennifer.” People ask that you not call them “fat” or “retarded” or “crippled,” and we do that.

Puberty blockers are also stupid expensive - I have a trans kid, Lupron for us is $1500 every 12 weeks. No one is just handing this out. Also, puberty blockers have been used for a very long time to treat precocious puberty in little kids, it’s not a new thing.

Mentioned the podcast that Matt Walsh'ss book was removed from Amazon after it was a best seller for a few days because "of course it would." This paints Amazon as having some decency and willing to take a stand for transgender rights. Matt's book is still very much for sale on Amazon, it is listed as an LGBTQIA book and currently has 4.9 stars with over 8000 reviews. On the same note, if you have the search set for the bookstore, the first book that shows up when searching "transgender" is an exceptionally transphobic anti-trans men book. As trans person that has worked at Amazon, there has been a significant amount of discourse over the inclusion of these book in the LGBTQIA category. Amazon, books Dept and board, has taken every length to keep them up. Citing "we must remain impartial and represent both sides equally." Please don't paint Amazon as a company that has any respect for trans people.

A taco is specifically food in a tortilla, so a hot dog in a bun isn't a taco just because it's something open on one side. I think it's most apt to call it a sandwich if you HAVE to categorize it, since it's a thing between pieces of bread. It doesn't matter that they're often connected; so are some subs and they're still sandwiches. You could MAKE a taco with hot dog, but you'd have to use a tortilla.

THANK YOU so so much for addressing the cognitive dissonance/willful bad arguments of "suicide post-op is high because Trans folk regret the operation." It boggles my mind that people's first thought process when addressing this isn't "perhaps depression/suicide are high in the trans community because of ostracization/bigotry/THE QUASI-TOTAL STRIPPING OF RIGHTS AND VOICE AND SUPPORT FROM THE SOCIAL CONTRACT YOU LIVE IN" and instead is "wElL oBvIoUsLy iT's bEcAuSe tHeY rEgReT bEiNg tRaNs." Like it's hard not to assume they're making a bad faith argument and are not just misinformed or ignorant about the subject. When you are stripped of your voice, of your person, from the community that is meant to protect you, you are virtually being told you don't matter and that it wouldn't matter if you disappeared. Also sorry for the caps. I live in Florida. This isn't just something I deeply care about that's on my front door, it's something that has moved in without my consent and snarls sinisterly while eating my groceries. Like a bad roach infestation.
