This movie was a box office failure when it was released. When the copywrite lapsed in 1974 and it became a public domain property, any tv station could broadcast it. Suddenly it became a classic Christmas film. I have my own personal theory about its initial failure. A story about a man who constantly makes sacrifices and has his hopes and dreams put on hold might not have played too well with audiences recovering from WWII. I do really love this movie though and I'm happy you shared it with us. 🎄
