Lock and Key Office

Formed by Rook, the Lock and Key Office in order to provide a more bespoke service than other offices are willing to provide. Security detail, assassination, extermination, and house keeping service all in one convenient package.

Work of the day

Being a fixer isn't all about action and hunting high and low for aberrations and criminals. Sometimes a contract just details the mundane task of keeping a home clean.

Shark and Deer

Mercy and Fern synergized shockingly fast, Mercy had finally met someone that could keep up with her frenzied pace of carnage. Fern on the other hand finally made her first of many friends within the office.

Chatter

Although Rook is the head of the office, he has delegated a lot of the running of it to his Fixers, this added responsibility does give some way to add freedoms.

Angel of Mercy

Anger, rage, fury, and spite kept Mercy alive during her time in the Back Alleyways Outer Ring. Rattlers began to make their way up from the Gulch, fleeing from something down beneath the City of Atlantropa. They ravaged the Outer Ring, killing countless. Even now these Rattlers still infest the Outer Ring. There will be no mercy for these fiends as long as Mercy lives.

Leaping Deer and Diving Dragon

Having clashed with Shiori as an independent fixer during a case, Fern was surprised when Shiori offered her a place within the Lock and Key Office. The guarantee of a high and steady paying job sealed the deal for her.

Diving Dragon

Age: 35 Residential area: 11th Ring

Nationality: Atlantropean

Shiori, a low-high ranking fixer that works for the Lock and Key Fixer Office. She is a skilled swordsman, capable of cleanly eliminating her targets. She is also in charge of leading her coworkers in their secondary or at times primary task, keeping the home of their clients clean and orderly. As the Lock and Key Office is not just a fixer service, but also a maid/bodyguard service. Their boss Rook negotiated a deal with the CoR that prioritizes the Lock and Key office for bodyguard work.

She is a calm and patient woman, although she can come off cold at times or too serious, she genuinely cares for her fellow maids and their duties. She would never ask any of them to do anything she wouldn't. Her family comes from the Sanada Corporation Nest, although they would be kicked out due to her father allegedly committing corporate espionage for a rival corporation which led to his death. She always makes sure to send the majority of her paycheck to her mother and younger siblings.

The Angel of Mercy

Age: 36 Residential area: 11th Ring

Nationality: Atlantropean

Mercy, a low-high ranking fixer, working for the Lock and Key Office. A brutal fighter, she utilizes her twin chainsaw cleavers to kill her targets with extreme prejudice. She is often tasked with the toughest of maid duties, like walking the dogs and feeding them or any pets that the clients may have, she is also in charge of the kitchen, Mercy is a superb chef.

Mercy rarely speaks, preferring to gesture or make little grunts when asked something. It isn't hard to understand her once you spend an hour with her, she is pretty clear with what she is trying to say. Born in the slums of the outer ring or more commonly known as the Back alley, a place that is only slightly better then the Gulch below Atlantropa. When Rook met her she was a feral child that tried to shank him, and succeeded, he hired her on the spot, which confused her. Ever since that day she has been loyal to Rook.

Longsword

Age: 32 Residential area: 11th Ring

Nationality: Atlantropean

Gwen, a high-mid ranking fixer, working for the Lock and Key office. Armed with a Longsword and a sharp wit, she isn't just another feral dog from the Back alley. She is a smooth talker, a slick operator that understands how the world works and knows how to get her way. She would have probably been a criminal boss if Rook hadn't met her.

Now she is charged with dealing with the crucial task of taking care of the kids of their clients, a baby sitter. She also takes care of heading out and getting groceries, and once that is sorted, helping out wherever she can. If anyone really knows what is happening in a case, it is her. During investigations Gwyneth has taken charge of questioning and talking to witnesses.

Green Thumbs

Age: 27 Residential area: 11th Ring

Nationality: Atlantropean

Holly, a high-low fixer working for the Lock and Key Office. Armed with a sharp axe and two green thumbs, Holly is the newest member of the Lock and Key Office. She comes from the 10th ring of Atlantropa, joining the office through a help wanted ad in the local bulletin board of her neighborhood. Needing a job, she went for it, called the office and as they say the rest is history.

She isn't really much of a fighter, but she has been slowly learning. She is definitely more passionate about getting to work on and maintaining the gardens and plants of clients.

Snap shot

Age: 28 Residential area: 11th Ring

Nationality: Atlantropean

Birdie, a low-mid ranking fixer working for the Lock and Key Office. Armed with a lever action rifle, a rarity from the old world with all the correct licenses needed for use. Birdie was handed down this rifle from her father, a man that came from the old world. She is from the 12th ring of Atlantropa, she frequented Rook's Cafe and overheard him talking about his fixer office and how they needed a few more fixers, she happily volunteered.

She doesn't care much for the maid side of the business, being more about the action life of a fixer on the hunt for an Aberration or dealing with Criminals or even Syndicate hitmen. All that cool stuff, but she can't really complain, the pay is good and occasionally they get to do cool stuff.

A Clover Leaf

Age: 30 Residential area: 12th Ring

Nationality: Atlantropean

Fern Clover, a respectable low-mid ranked Fixer from operating under the watchful eye of the CoR (Conspiracy of Ravens) north district sub division 23, Fern had been on the grindstone ever since she was officially licensed by the association. Taking any job she can, everyday for years, she hasn't taken a break. She is described by her fellow fixers as abrasive at worst, indifferent at best, as such very few willing to cooperate with her on cases, despite her excellent track record.

She is perpetually broke, to many she may seem either incredibly stingy or nonchalant about money, but the truth is that nearly every single dollar goes to paying back the loan for her sister's medical treatment that she received in America. A full ABC (Artificial Body Core) transplant, a procedure that removes the brain and spinal cord of an individual afflicted by a rare Cognition Disease that slowly consumes the body starting from the extremities, and places it in an artificial body known as a core, this core is created by advance methods that replicate the entire body nearly flawlessly, the only tell tall signs being the absence of a navel and some manufacturing seams. The ABC is capable of aging normally and functioning nearly indistinguishably to a normal body, the major issue is the price, one that Fern will be paying until the day she dies and perhaps even after. Yet to Fern it doesn't matter, as long as her sister gets to live a full life, no price is too great.

I absolutely adore the juxtaposition of fixer/mercenary characters doing both the super-epic fights and still taking up normal tasks. It's kinda wholesome and funny at the same time xD. The fact they also can do babysitting duties (one of them being specialised in it, anyways), is even cooler. If I were a rich Atlantropean notable I'd be sure to believe my kids would be safe with those ladies :D Also you bought me with the fact that 40k-like chain weaponry seems to exist in the universe. +5 point to coolness, alongside another +5 when it comes to ABC body transplant. Makes the US much more advanced that I'd expect to be, that's for sure! Last but not least, a bit of a silly question - do Lock and Key only hire women or, theoretically, a male Fixer could join their ranks as a butler/manservant?

Minister Screwtape

Yeah so I dunno if you recall the American MARs Witches, but does ladies use ABCs but military purpose ones, they finally got a proper name!

Minister Screwtape

As to the hiring practices of lock and key, they are very exclusive, so no guys allowed!

I just have myself a reread of MARs Witches thanks to this and you're (obviously) right! Nice seeing how all those different lore snippets are coming together, that's the best part of worldbuilding universes of this sort. Now the only thing to leave is to wish best of recovery to Mrs Fern's sister!
